A video on TikTok captures a man playfully poking and licking a bluebottle or Portuguese man o' war jellyfish. Unaware of the danger it poses, the man recorded himself interacting with the jellyfish, but soon after, he shrieked and ran away as he realized he had been stung inside his mouth.

This incident occurred when the man stumbled upon a peculiar "slimy" creature washed up on the shore.

The TikTok user, alexa_reed2, seemed completely oblivious to the fact that the creature he was handling was supposedly a bluebottle jellyfish, also called a Portuguese man o' war or a "floating terror." The video suggests that he was at a beach in Texas.

Alexa Reed shared a video of his encounter with the creature that had washed ashore.

Casually prodding it with his finger, he addresses the viewers, saying: "Hey guys I'm at the beach, and look what this is."

"Oh my gosh it's so cold and so slimy, I'm going to pick it up."

In the video, he can be seen grabbing the jellyfish and saying: "This is a jellyfish, look how long the sting is. I am going to grab it then I am going to lick it."

Afterward, he playfully touches the creature's body with his tongue and jokingly exclaims: "Ah it stung me, anybody want to pee in my mouth? I got stung by a jellyfish."

To everyone's surprise, Reed proceeds to say, "Let's do it again," and proceeds to lick the creature once again.

This jellyfish-like creature, also referred to as a "floating terror," is infamous for its powerful stinging cells and toxic venom, which can lead to severe illness or even fatality.

The creature is notably widespread in Australia, where it causes an average of 10,000 human stings every summer.

This typically results in intense pain, and in rare cases, the venom can spread to the lymph nodes, leading to blockage of the airways, difficulty breathing, and even cardiac arrest.

Fever and shock are also potential outcomes of being stung, and in certain instances, the consequences can be fatal.

Appalled viewers quickly notified Reed of the recklessness of his actions.

"My man's just picked up the deadliest jellyfish with no hesitation," one TikTok user commented.

"He obviously didn't see the 'TOP 10 MOST DANGEROUS ANIMALS IN THE WORLD!!' videos," another expressed.

"That's a Man o'war. They are 10x more dangerous than a jellyfish," a third shared.

"This guy's playing with his life right now," a fourth wrote.

TikTok placed a warning message over the video, stating: "The action in this video could result in serious injury" and removed it.

If someone gets stung, it's advised to immerse the affected area in warm water and carefully remove any remaining stingers.

This isn't the first peculiar TikTok video that the man has shared. His profile is filled with other strange clips, such as eating a cockroach and holding the head of a deceased chicken.

He is also seen handling exotic animals, and in one frightening scene, a spider crawls out of his mouth.

Following the video's popularity with over 590,000 likes and 18,600 comments, Reed uploaded a few additional clips as a follow-up.

In one of the follow-up clips, Reed is seen discovering "another jellyfish" on the beach. He proceeds to step on it to make it burst, finding amusement in doing so. The second clip shows him giggling while poking yet another venomous creature.

A man walking his dogs in the background can be heard warning Reed that such actions could lead to a hospital visit.

However, Reed responds by laughing and jokingly asking, "This one?" before poking the creature again and expressing his delight at its sliminess.

It seems that no matter how many warnings some people receive, they are reluctant to learn their lesson.
