Foolio was enjoying his birthday on the night of his death, according to footage shared on his Instagram.

The 26-year-old turned to the social media network, where he has over a million followers, and posted a video promoting a pool party. He told his fans to direct contact him for the address, according to NBC News.

Later in the evening, the rapper claimed that the cops had'shut us down and booted us out' of an Airbnb. The party had apparently become too raucous.

Foolio's lawyer, Lewis Fusco, said in a statement that the rapper then moved to a Holiday Inn, where he was apparently 'ambushed' in the parking lot in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police responded to reports of a shooting at a hotel in uptown Tampa and discovered two automobiles had been shot in the parking lot.

Fusco stated that hotel guests were not evacuated, but police were on the site to help as needed.

According to the Tampa Police Department, one individual was pronounced deceased, while three other patients are in stable condition and being treated at the hospital.

Police suspect the dead is Foolio, but his identification is pending confirmation by the medical examiner.

The Tampa Police Department issued a press release noting that the investigation is ongoing, adding, "Police are investigating what led up to the shooting and working to identify those involved."

Police are requesting the public to provide any information or footage that will help with the investigation.

"If you saw something or heard something any little detail can help us figure out what happened this morning," Fusco told the crowd.
