Mel Thompson dies at 35. Yesterday, September 27, the Youtuber and beauty guru's husband, Puffin Thompson, took to social media to announce her demise.
He shared ten pictures of his wife on Instagram, paying tribute to her and wishing that he "had her back." In the heartbreaking message accompanying the images he shared with fans, he said he "wanted to show the smiles she brought."
No cause of death was provided. He wrote:
"We lost a beautiful person... I've had to answer so many texts of people just checking in on her without even knowing of her passing. It's great to see how loved she was. And she loved all you right back."
He continued, expressing the void she has left behind:
"I'll continue to love her and miss her forever. She was such a pillar for our family. The kids would talk to her non stop and she was constantly talking about them and trying to help them with their stuff. And no matter how how bad she felt, she would still rub my back when I came and jumped on the bed next to her while she was working tirelessly to put out content."
Puffin praised her, commenting on how talented she was as an artist and how wonderful she was as a person.
Many from the beauty community, the likes of Lisa Eldridge, James Welsh, and Hindash, have been paying their tributes. Her fans have also been expressing their sorrow at the news. One of them wrote:
"Sending so much love to Mel Thompson's family and friends. She was such a beacon of light in the beauty community, and she will be missed."
"I have so many thoughts, but the first are radiance, she radiated kindness, beauty, grace! She talked to everyone like sisters, and I loved her for that!"
Her husband's words echoed this thought when this fan said:
"She would have done anything to help anyone without a second thought."
A few days before her death, on September 24, she had uploaded a makeup tutorial on her YouTube channel. That was her final gift to the world before departing. Like her Instagram page, her YouTube channel has been flooded with tributes from fans and fellow makeup artists alike.
Although no cause of death has been released, one Mr. Welsh who commented on the post mentioned that she had been suffering from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. There is no confirmation that this was what led to her death.
In August 2020, though, Mel Thompson wrote about her health on Instagram:
"I am having a lot of health issues. One main issue being seizures. I had two on my birthday and was in the hospital. Last night, I had another one. I'm okay. I just can't keep pushing myself and I need to rest."
She left her husband and four kids behind. Our sincere condolences to her family and close friends.
