Your Life Is A Journey, Not A Race Or Competition

Many people measure happiness by how successful they are or how much they show others they care. But that is not necessary for a balanced and pleasing life. It is possible to care too much.

By showing too much care and not setting boundaries in your life, you prohibit your growth and others. It is about more than just pleasing others; it can be a mentally and physically draining problem.

You could wither away because you're giving all your resources, love, and care to someone else. There is nothing good about this, but you can do something about it.

Here are the four signs to look out for and what you should do if you're guilty of caring too much.

You Are Taken For Granted

This is often the case with people who want to keep their friends and family happy. They do not get the appreciation they so well deserve. Some may even see your kindness as a weakness to exploit. There are evil people out there, and you have to protect yourself and your inner peace.

How To Deal

You should put distance between yourself and people who are abusive, manipulative, and insincere. Again, make sure your boundaries are known and don't compromise. Love yourself enough to say no, and stick to it.

You Attract Negative People

People are instinctively drawn to situations that will benefit them, and it's the same with relationships. Needy and desperate people will pick up that you will please them, and they will stick around. You are a magnet for negative and draining relationships if you do not make yourself a priority.

How To Deal

Make sure that you create boundaries and that those around you are aware of them. Don't allow yourself to compromise, no matter how badly you want to. You must stay strong and remember that you have to take care of yourself before others. This way, you will show you have self-respect, and people will pick up on that.

Your Needs Are Not A Priority

Putting everyone else ahead of yourself may feel like a noble and (temporarily) rewarding thing to do, but it will leave you exhausted and starving for self-care.

You want those around you to succeed, even if it means you don't. This is something that many people will shamelessly use against you, despite your good intentions.

How To Deal

You don't have to think of yourself as greedy if you put your needs first. It's important to take care of yourself, so you can continue to take care of others.

If you don't, you won't be able to help others for very long anyway. Think of it this way - to nurture and support others, you need to be nurtured and supported.

The Fear Of Rejection

We all fear rejection by other people, it's a natural thing. But when we start to fear it so much that it jeopardizes our happiness, it's not normal or okay. Not wanting to upset others and therefore keeping to your corner isn't a good way to live your life. This can manifest in many ways, such as you not taking the initiative when you actually could and should.

How To Deal

Seek out people who will appreciate you and what you have to offer. If you surround yourself with people who only use you to validate themselves, you aren't allowing yourself to grow. Find and nurture relationships with people who deserve it by being just as good for you as you are for them.

If you use this advice, you will be able to grow and flourish and then become even better equipped to take care of the people in your life who deserve your attention and care. Remember that your life is a journey, not a race, so enjoy the road you travel.
