Young Down Syndrome Model Becomes ‘benefit Cosmetics’ Brand Ambassador

Some cosmetic industries are not only focusing on their products but also on their ambassadors. These companies are thinking outside of the box and 'Benefit cosmetics company' is one of them.

Benefit Cosmetics is a popular cosmetic company founded by twin sisters Jean and Jane Ford and headquartered in San Francisco, California, with over 3000 counters in more than 30 countries. Benefit Cosmetic has recently introduced Kate Grant, a 20-year-old model with down syndrome as one of its new models for their eyeliner- new roller liner.

Kate Grant, from Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland, has always dreamt of building a career in the beauty industry and Benefit Cosmetics has made her dream come true.

The beautiful 20-year-old started her fashion industry journey after winning an international beauty pageant: Teen Ultimate Beauty Pageant of the world in August 2018 in her home country. She has also made an appearance on national tv during the 'This Morning' program in 2018.

A representative of Benefit cosmetics said in a statement with 'TODAY Styles' that they "instantly fell in love with Grant" after watching a video about her journey to becoming a model.

The rep also stated that "her amazing energy was so infectious, and we were captivated by her incredible zest for life and determination."

"She embodied everything we stand for as a brand, so we know we had to find a way to work with her."

Kate is also thrilled about working with 'Benefit Cosmetics' and is hopeful to be an inspiration to young women with disabilities all over the globe.

She wrote on her Instagram "This week has been amazing, thank you @benefitscosmeticsuk."

Kate's mother, Deidre, and her family have been supporting her in her career. Deidre has helped her to challenge perceptions of beauty and disability.

In an interview with Metro, Deidre opened up about her daughter's boundary-breaking success and passion for modeling.

"She is paving way for people coming behind her" Deidre said.

She also added that "Kate wants to spread awareness about inclusion for people with disabilities and that is what she has done from the start. She is aware that she is able to do that in a way some of her friends cannot and she is using her voice for them."

Deidre concluded by saying that she and her husband are so proud of their daughter Kate.

Social media users have also commended Benefits Cosmetics for using Kate to represent their brand.

A user wrote," What an inspirational young lady, thank you Benefit for the heartwarming equal chances with your models. And for the amazing makeup."

Another user also wrote, "She is the prettiest and you are the coolest."

After her debut with Benefits cosmetics, Kate has been exposed to a whole new audience. Kate is not stopping anytime soon as she is making appearances at Paris and London Fashion Weeks. She is also taking the spotlight on magazine covers while spreading awareness for inclusivity and diversity. Her ever-supportive fans are so excited to see what else Kate will be doing during her career and we are also anticipating seeing who else will be able to break through the barriers as Kate did.
