World's First Transgender Children's Doll Spotted

A selection of images gone viral amid the discovery of the world's first transgender children's doll in a Russian toy store.

The doll that appears to be 'transgender' has sparked outrage after appearing on the shelves of a toy shop. It was found on 'Planet Of Toys' shop in the Siberian city of Novosibirsk in south-central Russia.

This small blonde doll, on first appearances, you would assume, represents a female. It's wearing a red, yellow polka-dotted dress and has bright blue eyes and pink lips.

The doll also has female facial features.

However, on closer inspection, underneath her dress and white pants, she has a penis.

Images of the doll sparked mixed reactions in the famously conservative country where LGBTQ rights are strictly curtailed.

Social media has mixed feelings

Social media users also had mixed reactions, with many saying it was unnecessary to give children such toys.

One person questioned:

"Is it ok to produce toys like that for children?"

And another person suggested:

"All they have to do is buy a medical tool kit, and the kid can learn how to amputate."

Many others were left pretty unimpressed with the toy.

One user said:

"I think it is really terrible what is going on in this child's parent's head. Have you considered that it could simply be a manufacturing defect? Or they accidentally put a female head on a male body?"

But one user argued:

"I believe this is a liberal attempt to change society."

This isn't the first time a so-called transgender doll has sparked debate.

In 2014, a fairy toy that had male genitalia in Argentina became the world's first transgender doll.

The toy caused shock among parents after a mother shared a picture of it on Facebook.

The mother claimed her 3-year-old daughter discovered what seemed to be male genitalia under the doll's skirt while playing.

This doll also caused shock and debate across Argentina, with one member of the public explaining:

"It's very difficult to give an opinion because I'm conscious that it's a taboo subject in society... but yes, obviously, it's shocking."

In 2017, LGBT rights activist Jazz Jennings had Tonner Doll Company make a doll of her. But it didn't feature any genitalia, and fellow activists welcomed it at the time.

Jazz Jennings, 19-year-old, is one of the youngest people identifying as transgender to gain national media attention in the US.

In September 2019, Mattel announced the debut of the first gender-neutral doll line.
