If you think that the concept for building a hotel in space is something that looks good only in theory, there might be some news that could prove you the opposite.
Can you believe that soon, we'll get the very first space hotel?
The hotel named Voyager Class space station will be the world's first space hotel and will be able to accommodate 400 people.
The Voyager Class
This extravagant hotel will have everything that we can already see and find in our hotels on Earth. Besides the hotel rooms, this ambitious resort will boast its bars, cinema, restaurants, and spa.
Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC), the company that stands behind the Voyager, announced that construction would begin in 2025. They intend to finish and open the hotel by 2027.
OAC is a company concentrated on the colonization of space. This is conceivably something that they are aiming to achieve with the Voyager Station too.
Imagine The Picture
On its website, the hotel is described as a rotating space station designed to produce varying levels of artificial gravity by increasing or decreasing the rate of rotation.
The description explains in further details:
"The station will be designed from the start to accommodate both national space agencies conducting low gravity research and space tourists who want to experience life on a large space station with the comfort of low gravity and the feel of a nice hotel."
The exclusive accommodation will consist of two concentric structural rings fixed together.
Constructing The Pieces
Moreover, this hotel will be designed to look like it's made of an inner and outer ring.
The inner ring will be a docking hub, while the outer one will be the spine of the station. It will provide mounting for habitable modules, solar panels, radiators, and a rail transport system. People will be able to move freely around the station.
Then, there will be pods attached below the outer ring. Each of them will have different purposes regarding the needs of the hotel. Some of them may be sold to NASA for research purposes, while others will be used for accommodation, restaurants, or bars.
According to some of the sources, the basics for this upcoming project have been in progress for years after John Blincow founded The Gateway Foundation in 2012.
This foundation was created to build the first spaceport.
Furthermore, they explain on their website how they plan to succeed in realizing their idea:
"To do that, we must first build a few smaller structures. One of the most important projects is the Voyager Class of rotating space stations. This will likely be the first commercial space construction project in history."
The OAC was founded by The Gateway Foundation too.
Currently, they're looking to hire some new, talented and dedicated crew members for their project.
Feel free to test your luck, and check out their website for some detailed info!
