A New York woman previously believed to have jumped from the 6th-floor apartment to her death was actually beaten by her jealous boyfriend.

Danielle Marrano and her boyfriend Shmuel Levine were arguing about his cheating accusations against her inside her apartment.

The dispute then escalated into a physical altercation, and Levine put Danielle in a chokehold.

Levine afterward tossed Danielle from the apartment's window in a rage, causing her to plummet six floors to the ground.

Responding officers then found her and initially thought she had tried to take her own life.

They rushed her to the hospital, where she died six hours later.

According to prosecutors, Danielle suffered at least four skull fractures that contributed to her death.

However, the officers noted at least two fractures inconsistent with injuries sustained in a fall.

District Attorney Katz said in a statement:

This woman's last moments of life were brutal. The defendant resorted to vicious, physical violence to resolve a quarrel.

The city's medical examiner's office also noted the injuries were caused by 'unnatural blunt force trauma' and ruled her death a homicide.

Later that day, police arrested her boyfriend, Levine.

While in custody, Levine told cops that they argued about her cheating before the incident.

According to a criminal complaint, he said:

We got into an argument about her cheating on me. And I told her I couldn't take it anymore.

She admitted to cheating on me, and so then I said, 'Can I see your phone?'

She wouldn't give me the phone. So I forcefully tried to get the phone from her, and she fought back.

I put my hands around her because I just wanted to get the phone. I was wrestling with her for the phone.

Then, I grabbed her to try and get the phone, and she was kicking me.

Levine continued:

It wasn't my intention to put her in a chokehold. It was to get the phone.

I grabbed the back of her hair because I was desperate to get the phone.

Yes, there was a physical altercation to get the phone. I choked her with one arm for two to three seconds, and she was screaming, 'No.'

Investigators found hair that matched Danielle's and a huge dent in the wall of her apartment.

The window screen was also broken, according to a neighbor who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

After watching the disturbing surveillance footage, the neighbor said:

I saw the fall. She hit something on the terrace and bounced off, and fell down to the ground.

She was wearing a halter top, and her stomach was going in and out … And then, who comes out of the apartment door but [Levine]?

A Queens County grand jury has indicted Levine on a second-degree murder charge. If convicted, he could spend 25 years to life behind bars.

Following Danielle's tragedy, her heartbroken mom, Karen Marrano, told Daily News:

My daughter was a beautiful bright shining star.

She loved her family and her friends and her brother very much. She loved to dance and travel.
