Jack and Emma were married for 20 years. They were high school sweethearts who were very much in love at the start. When they tied the knot, Emma's dad helped Jack secure a job in his law firm, and Jack quickly climbed the ranks to land a highly lucrative position, despite his relatively young age.
His assistant was a woman named Sandy, who was happily married. However, one year she became pregnant, which was a happy occasion. Emma and Sandy were good friends and celebrated together. Little did Emma know that Sandy would soon be seeking revenge.
In The Beginning
This meant that Sandra had to take maternity leave but became a full-time stay-at-home mom. Jack had to look for a new assistant as a result. After numerous interviews, Jack thought he would never find the right candidate. However, his luck changed when Rose walked into his office.
Jack suddenly stopped, forgetting even the first question he was supposed to ask. Rose was stunningly beautiful, with long brown hair that flowed down to her waist and the greenest eyes he had ever seen. Despite his nerves, he asked her a few questions and ultimately hired her. After all, she would make an excellent first impression on his clients before they met him.

One day, Emma surprised Jack by dropping off some lunch at his office. It had been a few weeks since she had last visited him, and she was eager to meet his new assistant. Upon entering the office, she found a stunning young woman leaning over Jack's desk. The woman was startled by Emma's arrival, awkwardly curtseyed, and quickly hurried out of the room. Emma giggled and asked Jack who she was. He mumbled that the woman was his new assistant named Rose.
Time For Revenge
Emma was completely taken aback. She asked Jack why he had described Rose as an elderly lady. Jack shrugged and suggested that she must have misunderstood. Later, as Emma drove home, she couldn't stop her mind from racing with questions.
However, Emma didn't take long to confirm her suspicions deep down. Jack had hired a younger assistant and fallen in love with her. He now wanted a divorce, and Rose wanted them to move into the multi-million dollar mansion that Emma had inherited from her grandparents. Despite Emma's legal team's best efforts, Jack's lawyers secured the house for him in the divorce settlement.
The turn of events shattered Emma's heart. She was now determined to seek revenge. Jack and Rose had given her daughter, Jess, a week to pack up her belongings and vacate the house. According to the divorce settlement, all furniture and fixtures were to remain in the house. Emma's desire for revenge was powerful, and she planned everything meticulously.

The Faint Smell Of Revenge
On Emma's final evening in the house, she sat at the kitchen table with a bottle of wine gifted to her at her wedding 20 years ago. She opened the bottle and drank all of it while relishing a meal of garlic butter shrimp.
After finishing her feast, she threw the bottle in the recycling bin. Then, she took her bowl of shrimp shells and went through every room, stuffing them into the curtain rods. The rods were unique designer fixtures that had a high value.
Rose observed Emma loading the remaining items into the moving truck the following day with a self-satisfied expression. They instructed their hired movers on where to put everything and left for the day while the movers finished settling things in their grand residence. Upon returning home that evening, Rose detected a faint ocean scent. She lit a vanilla-scented candle, hoping to neutralize the odor.

Revenge At Its Finest
Jack attempted to reduce the cost of the multi-million dollar mansion by 50%. Although a few more individuals came to inspect it, they immediately became disgusted by the odor inside the property and declined to pursue it further. This caused Jack and Rose to become anxious and distressed.
The odor was infiltrating their lives in unexpected ways. Rose's constant nausea caused interruptions in their sleep, resulting in Jack's work being affected as well since he couldn't sleep if Rose couldn't. One day, Emma called Jack to check in and see how they were coping.
Jack sounded awful over the phone as he confided in Emma about their hardships with the odor. Emma feigned concern and proposed a solution, offering to swap the payment she received from the divorce settlement for their house. Jack was taken aback by Emma's suggestion and thought that she might have lost her mind.
Why would Emma want to take possession of a malodorous house that couldn't even be sold? Nevertheless, Jack agreed to the proposal and felt quite pleased with himself. Ultimately, he offloaded the house for a fraction of its actual value - stench included.

On the day Jack and Rose were preparing to vacate the house, Emma came to see them off. She greeted Jack with a smile and acknowledged Rose with a nod but couldn't help but notice them snickering together as they loaded the final items onto the moving truck.
Emma maintained a serious expression. Still, she couldn't hold back her grin when the movers emerged carrying the antique curtain poles - the same ones that likely still harbored the odorous shrimp shells. In the end, Emma had her sweet revenge.
