Cheryl Jarvis and Lauren Marsden are mother and daughter, but most people assume that the two ladies are sisters.

Lauren is now 20, and ever since she turned 18, people started confusing her 21 years older mother to be her sister.

Obviously, that's quite flattering for Cheryl Jarvis, from Bradford, Yorkshire, but she also finds it hilarious.

Cheryl talked about this common confusion, saying:

"Strangers can't believe I'm Lauren's mum. They're always in shock and think we are siblings."

So, what is Cheryl's secret? Hint: it has a lot to do with her daughter, Lauren.

Good Genes, Fitness, And More

Cheryl is a fitness fanatic, and her envious figure proves that hard work pays off. She opened up about her routine:

"I get up at 5 am to work out – five times per week. I now help other women with a weights training program as I am a personal trainer on the side."

"Fitness doesn't need to be hours on a treadmill and eating salad. I eat a balanced diet and drink the occasional glass of prosecco on the weekend."

However, her daughter is Cheryl's number one helper.:

"Lauren definitely helps keep me young as she gives the best fashion advice and shows me what beauty products I should buy."

"Her makeup bag is much bigger than mine, so I prefer it when she gives me a makeover. She is actually better at applying makeup than I am."

"It's great as she shows me what I should use and how to apply it!"

And there is something extra that keeps this 41-year-old mom youthful - botox:

"Botox has helped maintain a youthful look. I've been getting it for about three years now but I've had a year off due to coronavirus lockdowns."

Mom And Daughter Are Instagram Stars

Not only are Cheryl and Lauren close, but they also share interests, which is another thing that keeps Cheryl youthful:

"We have a fantastic relationship. She tells me everything and vice versa."

Cheryl has an impressive following on Instagram, thanks to her daughter:

"I had Instagram before Lauren, but her account blew up when she started posting. She helps me master my posing techniques for it. I am so proud of her and chuffed that people think we are sisters."

Indeed, we are obsessed with youth culture, but Cheryl thinks her look and desire to stay young are empowering. And she has a point.
