A TikTok user, now 42, revealed how she was kidnapped over 40 years ago, and her story is both empowering and heartbreaking.

"How I Learned I Had Been Kidnapped"

TikTok user thebeardedmom captioned her fascinating story by writing "How I learned I had been kidnapped."

In the now-viral video, she explained that she first came to this realization when she was 26. She added she was "in a healthy place in my life for the first time."

The TikToker was getting married, and she knew nothing about her birth mom. She contacted the sheriff in her hometown, and that was the beginning of a wild story.

The Call That Changed Everything

As soon as she told the sheriff all about herself, the woman stated he became extremely interested in her.

Their weird conversation continued in person, and at some point, he told the woman to sit down. The sheriff then told her:

"I sat down, he told me he couldn't find any information about my mother, but that I was a missing person."

Though the case was closed as unsolved, the sheriff knew that she was kidnapped and reported missing. As the woman from the US said:

"There was a police investigation I could not access because the records had been archived, but I had been kidnapped."

To explain what happened with her case, the TikToker had to record 14 videos.

She learned that her birth mother sold her, but her grandmother reported her missing since she most likely didn't know about the mother's decision.

The woman was raised by a family who abducted her until the state got custody of her. She got the new name and security number.

Despite all that happened, the lady in question did manage to get in touch with her biological father.

Other TikTokers were amazed by this story. The woman managed to answer their questions, and some commented she was well adjusted. Others wanted to know how she is coping, and she answered:
