Baldwin And His Wife Hilaria Baldwin Had Their Sixth Child

For the past couple of months, Alec and his family have enjoyed nothing but good news.

The child was born through surrogacy in March. Fans and supporters from all around the world sent their congratulatory messages to the celebrating couple.

Not long after, the actor made a distasteful joke that offended a lot of people.

Baldwin Has A Reputation For Pushing Boundaries

Baldwin is not afraid to take things a little further than most of his peers when it comes to comedy.

He was critically acclaimed for his portrayal of Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live before and after his inauguration. The role was somewhat controversial, but it earned him his third Primetime Emmy in 2017.

One Of His Jokes Seems To Have Crossed The Line

The joke was about Gillian Anderson, The Crown actress. He made fun of her acceptance speech during the Golden Globes.

There's Something Many People Don't Know About Gillian

Although she often plays roles where she uses a British accent, she does not use the same accent in real life. A lot of fans don't know this.

Gillian grew up in both the U.S. and the U.K., so she can use both accepts fluently.

Alec Baldwin Decided To Joke About This Aspect Of Gillian's Life

As she was accepting her award, she used her American accent, and Baldwin decided to make fun of this fact:

"Switching accents? That sounds... Fascinating."

After defending his wife's tendency to switch between Spanish and American accents, he made a joke because he was okay with his wife changing accents. People thought it was arrogant and contradictory of him to mock Gillian.

Alec Always Fiercely Defends His Wife

In fact, he was so determined in his wife's defense that he ranted about "cancel culture" while defending her heritage on social media.

People Had Found Inconsistencies In Hilaria's Story

Some time back, people started to question Hilaria's heritage. They were merely claiming that her account of her upbringing was not consistent.

According to some childhood peers, Hilaria grew up in Boston, and her name was Hillary Hayward-Thomas. Apparently, during this period of her life, she did not have a Spanish accent.

In A 2015 Clip, She Seems To Forget The Word "Cucumber"

During a cooking segment, Hilaria seemed to forget the word "cucumber."

The social media community went into a frenzy, and it became the center of a scandal about her heritage.

She Talked About The Problem To The Media

She defended herself, saying:

"There is not something I'm doing wrong, and I think there is a difference between hiding and creating a boundary."

She went on to claim that she was born in Boston but had spent time in both Boston and Spain:

"My family now lives in Spain. I moved to New York when I was nineteen years old and I have lived here ever since."

She lamented that it felt like she had been telling that story for a decade, and it was still not enough.

She Recently Made An Apology On Instagram

She said she was sorry because she "should have been more clear" about the deep connection to the two cultures. Hilaria also added that she was proud of her upbringing and said that they were raising their kids to love and respect both cultures.

Online, The Scandal Proved To Be Quite Serious

Alec Also Shared His Opinion On The Matter

In the tweet, Alec argued that cancel culture's sole purpose is to destroy both the deserving and the undeserving. This message was directed at those who were seeking to cancel Hilaria following her recent scandal.
