Harry and Meghan just announced the incredible news that they had welcomed a baby girl into their young family.
Everyone seems excited about this bit of news, but Prince William and Kate Middleton's reaction has generated even more buzz about the girl's birth.
For starters, no one expected the tweet William and Kate sent after the birth of their niece.
Obviously, Harry and Meghan were ecstatic about the birth of the baby girl.
By now, everyone knows how hard the last few years have been for the famous couple.
Harry and Meghan got married in 2018. Meghan was an actress in Suits.
Their wedding was, by all standards, a pretty happy affair, but the joy would soon turn into trouble for the two.
The British media was onto Meghan, and it seemed that every move she made was met with hateful criticism and attacks.
When the couple could not take it anymore, they informed the world that they would be abandoning their senior duties as part of the royal family.
At this point, all they wanted was a quiet and safe life as they raised their son Archie.
Before long, the two were fully settled in Los Angeles, ready to start afresh.
Royalists Were In Uproar
As expected, the decision to move to the US was met with a lot of criticism from royalists.
That included Piers Morgan, who mocked the couple and even told them he would not be tweeting about their baby news as a way to respect their "constant pleas for privacy."
He was talking about the decision by Harry and Meghan to step down as senior royals and have private lives.
Here's his tweet.
Rumors that Harry, Prince Charles, Prince William were not getting along, and the shockingly scandalous Oprah interview, did not help things. Things had reached a boiling point.
The Unforgettable Interview Took Place On March 7, 2021
This was a tell-all interview unlike any other. The royal family's dirty laundry was aired in public as millions watched.
The couple revealed the appalling treatment they had received as part of the royal family over the last few years.
Apparently, a certain senior member of the family aired concerns about Archie's skin color. She revealed that this also had something to do with the boy not getting a royal title after his birth.
Meghan Was In Tears
The Duchess could not hold back her tears as she talked about the grotesque lack of support she experienced within the royal family. She even went into details about feeling suicidal.
She was pregnant at the time and the pressure of isolation was breaking her apart.
In the interview, she revealed:
"Look, I was really ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry especially, because I know how much loss he has suffered, but I knew that if I didn't say it, then I would do it… I just didn't want to be alive anymore."
Harry Also Claimed That His Father Had Cut Him Off Financially
Based on what Harry revealed during the interview, they are basically outcasts at this point.
Some People Sympathized With The Couple
Even though some people were sympathetic to the concerns the couple raised, others were angered by the interview and the claims Harry and Meghan made.
In the end, some of their critics called them "attention seekers" and "liars."
As far as choosing a public way to break the silence on the issues facing them, the pair certainly went all out by offering Oprah Winfrey a chance to interview them.
However, Harry would go back to the U.K. a short time after the interview for his grandfather's funeral.
Reports also indicated that the relationship between Harry, his father, and other senior members of the royal family was very frosty.
Things Haven't Been Easy For Harry And Meghan
However, Harry still has the courage to talk about the challenges they went through as part of the royal family.
After the interview, Harry was a guest on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast.
During the interview, he revealed plenty of things about himself.
A Cycle Of "Pain And Suffering"
Harry admitted during the interview that he was trapped in a cycle of "pain and suffering." This was the most talked-about section of the podcast.
In a subtle way, he also seemed critical of the manner in which his father Prince Charles raised him.
Here's what he said:
"When it comes to parenting, if I've experienced some form of pain or suffering because of the pain or suffering that perhaps my father or my parents had suffered, I'm going to make sure I break that cycle so that I don't pass it on."
According to Harry, there is a lot of pain and suffering that is passed around in the family.
"So we as parents should be doing the most we can to try and say 'you know what, that happened to me, I'm going to make sure that doesn't happen to you.'"
Prince Charles Raised Harry As He Had Been Raised
Harry claimed that growing up made him come to the realization that Prince Charles raised him as he had been raised.
He revealed that he never saw or knew about it until he started to put everything together:
"' OK, so this is where he went to school, this is what happened, I know this about his life, I also know that is connected to his parents so that means he's treated me the way he was treated, so how can I change that for my own kids?'"
Harry Wants To Be Different
Based on the things he has said in the interview, Harry is keen to ensure that he does not pass the "genetic pain" to his own kids.
This could not have come at a better time now that his family is quickly growing in size.
The Couple Announced They Were Expecting A Second Child In February
During the Oprah interview, Harry and Meghan explained that they were expecting a baby girl.
However, before the happy news, Meghan had suffered a miscarriage.
She opened up about the miscarriage in the New York Times in November.
In the opinion piece, she claimed that "losing a child means carrying almost unbearable grief." According to her, this was a pain suffered by many but discussed by few.
Meghan also said that after the experience, she and Harry also realized that for every 100 women, between ten to twenty had had a miscarriage.
However, she lamented the fact that this topic was rarely discussed even though it was quite common. For many, the subject:
"…remains taboo, riddled with (unwanted) shame, and perpetuating a cycle of solitary mourning."
The Couple Was Quiet During Their Second Pregnancy
After all, following the miscarriage, some privacy and calm could do them a lot of good.
However, cautious waiting is now a thing of the past.
The couple has just welcomed a healthy baby girl into the world. The news was confirmed by a spokesperson for the Sussexes.
The statement said:
"It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world."
Lili Was Born On June 4
The girl was welcomed into the dependable care of doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
Reports indicated that both the mother and the baby were healthy and doing well and comfortably settling at home.
She Was Named After Her Great-Grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen
The family's nickname for The Queen is Lilibet, and the girl was given this as her name. Diana, obviously, was given to her in honor of her grandmother, Diana, The Princess of Wales.
Thanks to her birth, Archie now has her sister.
The Girl Has A Truly Beautiful Name
The couple have certainly paid a great tribute to Diana and Queen Elizabeth II.
There's One Other Thing, However
The thing that has gotten people talking is the way Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, have responded to the news.
What Prince William And Kate Said
The Queen, Prince Charles, and his wife have also been informed about the girl's birth and excited about the family's newest member.
Thomas Markle Also Sent His "Love And Best Wishes"
Thomas Markle hasn't spoken to his daughter Meghan since she got married to Prince Harry.
He said that he was very pleased with the news of his daughter's and granddaughter's safe and healthy delivery. Thomas Markle also wished Lilibet and her mom all his love and best wishes.
Congratulations, Harry And Meghan
We certainly wish Harry and Meghan all the best.
The Girl's Birth Was Highly Anticipated
After leaving the royal family in 2020, they have been living in Los Angeles raising their son Archie.
Unfortunately, even though the girl's name is a great tribute to her grandmother and great grandmother, it is already stirring controversy.
In fact, a royal spokesperson has had to speak up about the controversy.
Dickie Arbiter, a royal commentator and a senior aide to the Queen, said that the name Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was "quite controversial."
There Is An Issue With The Name "Lilibet"
The name has nothing to do with the use of Diana's name but the Queen's nickname, Lilibet. Apparently, the name has confused many people.
The name was given to her as a child, and it was used by her husband Prince Phillip, who passed away in April.
The royal commentator, Dickie, said that although it is not "unusual for families to name babies after a parent or grandparent," the couple's choice of name was surprising.
He claimed that it was controversial to christen a baby using a nickname and was, therefore 'taken about' by their decision to give her this name.
The Name Was More Surprising Given The Oprah Interview
Dickie admitted that considering everything that had happened in the recent months, including the March interview with Oprah and Harry's appearance on a mental health program for Apple TV, the decision was truly unexpected.
He said that Harry criticized his father and the way he was raised, which meant he was also critical of the Queen.
The spokesperson went on to state that this might be Harry and Meghan showing their independence once more by giving their baby girl that name. Archie also bears a non-royal name.
Harry was so close to his mother that her death is still a mental struggle for him over two decades later.
Is The Name An Olive Branch?
Considering that Harry and Meghan moved to California to distance themselves from the royal family, taking the Queen's nickname is quite the surprise, and Dickie wonders if it's an olive branch.
However, the spokesperson also wonders why they didn't use Diana as the girl's first name, considering that Charlotte also used Diana as a middle name.
According to Dickie:
"… if the names are indeed olive branches, only time will tell if they work."
What are your thoughts on the names Harry and Meghan have given their little girl?
