Will Smith "Embarrassed And Hurt" By Chris Rock's Jokes About Him

According to reports, Chris Rock's jokes about him have left Will Smith feeling "embarrassed and hurt."

You may remember that at last year's Oscars, Smith slapped Rock across the face, resulting in endless headlines around the world.

Nearly one year later, Rock talks about the slap in his latest Netflix stand-up comedy special.

In his comedy special Selective Outrage, the comedian addressed the alleged affair of Jada Pinkett Smith and joked that the slap still stings even today.

The 58-year-old comedian said: "I have rooted for Will Smith my whole life I've rooted for this motherf****r. And now I watch Emancipation just to see him get whooped."

While the jokes may have been well-received at the Hippodrome Theater in Baltimore, it appears that Smith is understandably not as fond of them.

An anonymous source told Entertainment Tonight that the actor is feeling "embarrassed and hurt" by the jokes, and while he hasn't watched the special, he was informed about the content and disapproved of Netflix's choice to broadcast the show.

The source also mentioned that Smith wishes for Rock to move on from the incident.

Just to remind you, the incident happened at the 2022 Academy Awards when the King Richard actor was present in the audience with his wife, Jada.

As the host of the ceremony, Rock made a joke about Jada's bald head, referencing the movie G.I. Jane.

The joke angered the Fresh Prince actor, who was captured on camera yelling, "Keep my wife's name out of your f***ing mouth!"

After that, he walked up to the stage and slapped Rock across the face.

Although the awards ceremony continued, and Smith even won the Best Actor award, he faced the consequences later on.

Nowadays, Smith appears to have made peace with the incident and has even made jokes about it himself, taking a completely different approach than the serious apology he shared on Instagram after the slap occurred (pun intended).

At 54 years old, he stated, "Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night's Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable."

"Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada's medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally."

"I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness."

"I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees, and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us."

"I am a work in progress."

As a consequence, Smith was prohibited from attending any Academy events for the next ten years.
