A Wendy's employee has been relieved of his duties after being caught on video having a bath at the restaurant's sink. The Michigan restaurant fired the employee after a 23-second clip showed up online with the man taking a bath in the nude.
As he was having fun and laughing while taking a bath, the man was heard saying it was just "like a hot tub" and also that he was "just enjoying life, boss."
This Wendy's is located on North Lafayette Street in Greenville.
The Man Was Naked
It is clear from the video that the man was not wearing a shirt as he took a bath in the industrial-sized sink. However, it is not clear if he had underwear on as he carried out this disgusting act.
Obviously, that is hardly the bigger issue here. What he did was grossly inappropriate.
Nevertheless, in the video, the man's bare knees are visible in the footage.
The Video Was Shared On Facebook
When the video was shared online on Facebook, the person posting was warning people against visiting that particular Wendy's location given the upsetting lack of hygiene at the restaurant.
The post came with this message:
"So yeah, I'm just going to tell everyone right now, DONT NOT GO TO THE GREENVILLE WENDYS. THIS IS DISGUSTING PLEASEEEEEE SHARE THIS."
Other Employees Involved Also Fired
According to Christian Gamp, a spokesperson for the company that owns this Wendy's, other employees involved in the scandal have also been fired.
As per the spokesman, the behavior witnessed in the video was both "egregious" and "completely unacceptable."
Restaurant Sanitized, Customers Promised The Incident Won't Be Repeated
The spokesperson also said that the employee's behavior was against the restaurant's safety, training, and operational standards. He also assured customers that the restaurant had been completely sanitized after the incident.
Additionally, the restaurant assured the public that "proper steps to make sure something like this never happens again."
However, it remains to be seen how much confidence these reassurances will inspire.
For Wendy's This Is A Learning Experience
The company that owns the Wendy's spoke of how significant this incident has been:
"We are taking this incident seriously, and it is obviously unacceptable. This was a prank by a person who no longer works at this restaurant and who clearly did not use good judgment. We are taking this opportunity to reinforce our very strict quality procedures with our restaurant team."
Yes, the employee who thinks taking a bath in a kitchen sink can pass for a joke has been fired. The company has also offered several assurances that the incident will not be repeated, but will people still trust the hygiene standards at this Wendy's?
