Vegan Activist Shot At By Farmer After ‘rescuing’ Rabbits

In a bold move to 'rescue' 16 rabbits, a vegan activist ended up covered in blood after she was shot at. She posted the bloody picture on the internet for all to see.

But she was not alone.

Mia was part of a group that got into a rabbit farm in Spain in a mission that resulted in the rescue of '16 lives.'

But the farmer's reaction, according to Mia, was over the top. Mia said the farmer was 'extremely aggressive' in his attacks before the police finally came in.

She shared the story on social media.

When she was shot at, she was in her car. Without warning, the window 'exploded' from the gunshot, and there was glass all over.

While the group was happy with the rescue, the farmer was not amused.

Besides shooting at her, he also 'strangled activists and smashed their heads in with metal poles.'

Even after the police arrived, the group was not free from the farmer's ire. They were chased down the motorway and even followed down the side road.

But the day did not get any better even after she posted the photo on social media. Instead of getting sympathy from her followers on Instagram, she ended up having to disable comments over what she describes as a 'high number of death wishes and threats.'

Many people did not relate to her 'rescue the rabbits' story and instead called her a 'thief' for what she did. But she later said the focus should not be on her but on the safety of the animals.

But Mia and her friends stand their ground. They believe that they did the right thing, claiming that "the most important thing is that the 'non-human animals are safe.'

According to Mia, the rabbits are now 'far from that hell hole.'

In a bid to divert people from negative comments she and her group were receiving, she tried to question how we could expect farmers who treat humans this way to treat animals.

But all in all, Mia says she is happy they saved the 16 lives from harm.

Still, the farmers did not let them off easily. Mia gave a blow by blow account of how things went down:

"They blocked us into a dead end and surrounded the car with 5 other farmers' cars. They were banging on the windows, shouting and threatening us."

"We called the police who arrived after an hour. They diffused the situation and escorted us to a 'safe place'. We asked them to escort us home but they refused and said we would be okay."

"They let us go and 10 minutes later back on the motorway one of their cars pulled up alongside us and shot at us. The window exploded in my face and there was a lot of blood from all the glass."

"We're currently at the hospital and waiting to go to the police station to report this crime."

Even after police intervention, the farmers still wanted to get their hands on the activists.

Spain is currently leading with the production of rabbits, followed by France and Italy, respectively.

As a matter of fact, these three countries account for over 80% of the rabbits produced in the EU.

However, the number of rabbit farms in Spain has been on a decline. According to statistics, there has been a 40 percent drop in the number of farms over a 10-year period. This has been because of an increase in 'professionalization,' whereby farms have grown in size to become more specialized.

This has made it hard for many small farms to compete, forcing them out of business.

But what started as a mission to rescue rabbits turned out into a mission by the activists to rescue their own lives.
