Empaths are highly sensitive gifted people; they can connect with people on a deeper level than others. They see things through the eyes of the soul and can pick up the emotional wellbeing of those around them. An empath can pick up if someone is being inauthentic, and can tell if someone is being sincere or not. They are human lie detectors.
Empaths feel the emotions of those around them, especially negative emotions. They have a gift of being able to feel energies, and this can be very draining for an empath. Large crowds can suck the energy from an empath, leaving them tired and drained, even with aches and pains all over.
An empath’s unique ability to see beyond the physical world can leave them feeling completely exhausted and drained of their energy. Being able to distinguish someone else’s energy and emotions from their own can sometimes be difficult. It’s essential for an empath to understand this and to protect their energy.
Grounding techniques, protection, and self-soothing are vital for an empath and should be included in an empaths daily routine. Below are some suggestions to help any empath get through the day.
Spending time alone is so essential for any empath, as it gives you time to take back your energy. It’s an integral part of rejuvenating your energy; it helps to clear away any outside low energies. It can be difficult for an empath to distinguish between their energy and that of others. This time is needed to just be in your own energy and space, so you can be aware of how you are feeling.
Whether you have a hectic schedule or not, it is so important to take some time each day for some alone time. Go for a walk, read a book, or just enjoy some quiet time.
Smudging your space, your home, or your office is like taking an energetic shower and giving your area a metaphysical clean. As the smoke rises, negative energy, feelings, and emotions are lifted. Negative and low energies can stick around, you can bring it into your home, or indeed others that visit bring it with them. Smudging is something that should be done regularly in your home. You can use sage, palo santo, or nag champa to name a few.
3. Stay Hydrated
Water is an essential part of cleansing for an empath. We heal and rejuvenate near water. Water is necessary for life; it has a surplus of benefits for youth, health, and wellbeing. It not only increases our energy, keeps our skin healthy, helps our immune system, it also helps clear away any old energy.
You can bless your water in the morning to help clear away any low energies and for it to wash away any negativity. Walking in the rain or going for a walk near water also helps to clear an empath and bring them back to themselves.
4. Healthy Boundaries
Self-love is so important and one of the significant steps to achieving this is to create healthy boundaries in your life. Your focus should be on all the things that make you happy, and you have passion for. Anything else that is toxic and draining of your energy, people, or places should be removed from the equation where possible.
5. Learning to say “No”
Empaths can find it difficult to say no, as it is in their nature to help and show compassion for others. By doing this, they can sometimes leave themselves short. In order to start setting healthy boundaries, saying no to things that you don’t want to do, or things that don’t agree with your soul are crucial. Don’t always be a people pleaser, say no if you don’t want to do something, regardless if it might upset the other person.
If something doesn’t feel right, you have to listen to your gut and intuition, stand your ground, and say no. It’s your life and wellbeing, and you have to put yourself first.
Regular meditation helps you find your inner peace; it brings you back to your true self. For an empath this needs to be done regularly because of being able to pick up other emotions and energies, an empath needs to clear out what is theirs and what is other people’s emotions. Try and make meditation part of your daily routine, even a short 5 minutes one every morning in the shower can help set you up for the day. Once this becomes part of your everyday routine, you will start to notice its benefits on your sleeping, breathing, mood, and overall wellbeing.
