We all lead busy lives, and dating at times can be hard to fit in. Well, not so much the dating but the commitment and time part of it.
A trend is appearing that suits those of us who just don’t have the time for 24/7 relationships.
This type of relationship certainly works well for those who work with ever-changing shift patterns such as, firemen, doctors, nurses, police, or those that travel a lot and are fully focused on their careers.
We all deserve to have love in our lives, but modern-day living and its ever-changing tempo make it harder than ever before.
Part-time relationships seem to be on the increase, each partner knows the ground rules before so should you cancel at the last minute due to an unscheduled meeting cropping up, you won’t get the daggers and umpteen texts because your partner is pissed at you.
The trend is growing ever popular in developed countries where private lives are almost non-existent due to the demands and stresses of jobs.
For some this will seem a very odd type of relationship, others may think it means both having your cake and eating it by having a relationship with no real commitment. If it suits you both why not go ahead and do what makes you both happy.
You can find like-minded people just by googling it. They list their interests, careers, work schedule situation, a bit like a dating site but it lays out the situation upfront before contact is even made.
Everyone wants to find what makes them happy. Being with someone who understands exactly the lifestyle you have, the long hours, the late-night meetings and conferences, business trips, etc makes sense.
A website called parttimelove.co.uk currently covers those living in Australia, the USA, and the UK. Their website states:
“It is for people who seek meaningful romance but for whatever reason don’t have time, or the circumstances aren’t right, to invest in a full-time, 24-7 relationship. We are not a no-strings website. We are for singles looking for regular partners with mutual attraction, genuine friendship, respect, and a magical spark but who have no expectations of moving in after three months and value their free time and independence.”
It’s up to us as individuals how we live our lives and being committed to our careers shouldn’t stop us from finding love, even if that love is part-time!
If it is something you think could work for you, give it a go. What have you got to lose? Who knows, maybe there is the perfect match for you out there, just waiting to hear from you.
