transgender teen raised as a boy is pregnant after discovering she has working female reproductive system

Mikey Chanel is an 18-year old transgender teen raised as a boy. The male genitalia was always here, but she felt that something wasn't right.

Last year after she was diagnosed with Persistent Mullerian duct syndrome (PMDS), she found out that she has a regular female reproductive system. A functional uterus, ovaries, cervix, and fallopian tubes.

Finally, she got the missing piece from the puzzle, and she's enjoying the second trimester of her pregnancy. The baby boy is expected in a couple of months, and she's more than ready for this journey.

Trust Your Gut - Intuition Never Offers Lies

She always had a feeling that she is a woman, and sometimes this inner feelings turns out to be true.

It was obvious to everyone that I was different right from the start.
I never felt like a boy and I was quite effeminate, and I never really went through a whole 'boy puberty' thing. I only have a tiny bit of facial hair. I've always had a feminine-shaped body.

Facing Reality

It was more than obvious: something beneath the surface made her different from the other teenagers her age. And when she was 13 years old, she came out as gay.

And then, in 2019, on one of her doctor's appointments, Mikey found out that everything she felt about herself before was now somehow real.

I had been having a weird feeling after peeing and sex, so they did an ultrasound of my urinary tract.
They told me that I had a cervix, ovaries, uterus, and fallopian tubes and that I could get pregnant if I wanted to. I actually thought it was a joke. I didn't even know this was possible. Then they showed me my uterus on the screen.

In the end, it wasn't just a feeling or a self-doubt thing.

Against All Odds

After the sudden revelation, Mikey's doctors suggested that maybe it would be safer for her if she decided to have a hysterectomy.

Many types of research say that people who have PMDS are more likely to be at higher risk of cancer and tumors. Still, Mikey wasn't ready for this procedure.

A Chance At Parenting

I always knew I wanted to be a parent, I used to play with baby dolls when I was little and I've always seen kids in my future, so I decided, it's now, or never I have to try and get pregnant.

Maybe teenagers indeed are too young to be parents, but nothing is always just as black or white as it seems. The shades of grey are lurking, and there are some chances that we only get once in a lifetime.

Besides the young age, Mikey knew that this opportunity was something that she could get only once and for a limited time. So, she had to think and act fast.

When Wishes Come True

I can't wait to be a parent. My parents weren't around much when I was a kid, so I want to be the parent that my parents couldn't be, I really want to be there for my child.

The road to conceiving wasn't easy. Because Mikey doesn't have a vaginal opening, she didn't have the opportunity to conceive naturally.

An alternative was to have the ZWIFT laparoscopic procedure, in which embryos were inserted into her fallopian tubes via the abdomen.
But she knew that her chances were low because there was only a 20% chance this would work.

But it did, her procedure succeeded, and the results brought her happiness.
