In a world where many people wish they were anywhere but at their 9-5 jobs, there's one man who thrives in his workplace. Meet Colin, an electrician who has a unique workplace - a zoo! His daily companions are not coworkers in the traditional sense; they're the fascinating animals residing at the zoo. Colin's daughter, Lucy, who lives abroad, cherishes his updates not only because she misses her dad but also because she's eager to see which animals will join him in the pictures.

Colin's role at the zoo involves maintaining the electrical systems that power rides and secure animal enclosures. What makes his job extraordinary is the friendly and curious nature of the zoo's inhabitants. These creatures from around the world often come up to greet him while he works in their enclosures. Lucy shared that most of the animals are tame and comfortable around humans, creating a unique and delightful work environment.

"We always get selfies of him with the animals, the most recent being the fruit bats. We live in different countries, so we always get updates, and when we go to visit him, we go to the zoo so he can show off. There was a monkey there that he befriended who would follow him around the enclosure," said Lucy.

However, there's an exception to this animal camaraderie – the camels. Colin wisely steers clear of them because, as he once told Lucy, camels have a tendency to spit, providing a compelling reason to maintain a safe distance.

On a particular day, Colin had a task to complete in the meerkat enclosure. While he was focused on his work, he couldn't ignore the meerkats' inquisitive nature. They approached him with keen interest, going so far as to venture into his tool bag.

"Meerkats are naturally super curious, so they just went up to explore while he was working! There's another photo of one of them sitting on my dad's shoulder. He bent down to pick something up and they climbed up his back! I didn't post that one because I didn't think my dad would be very impressed!" shared Lucy.

The meerkats proceeded to inspect the contents of his bag, and in one picture, it appears as though they were handing him a screwdriver – quite the helpful assistants! Meerkats, a subspecies of mongoose, are small and social mammals native to the deserts and grasslands of southern Africa. They're recognized by their slender bodies, tan or gray fur, and dark bands on their backs.

Not stopping at the tools, one meerkat even took interest in a spotlight from Colin's bag, typically used for nighttime repairs, and examined it with utmost curiosity.

As they grew more comfortable with Colin's presence, the meerkats ventured closer, some even crawling up his leg. Colin managed to capture some endearing moments with his newfound friends.

Interestingly, these meerkats aren't the only curious critters at the zoo. According to Lucy, there's a particular monkey that has taken a liking to her dad. Whenever he works in the monkey enclosure, this playful primate follows him around, adding to the list of animal buddies Colin has made.

"The other animals haven't interacted with the tools and stuff, really, but they do like going over and watching him work, especially the monkeys. We always get photos of them looking over his shoulders or posing for selfies. There was a monkey there that he befriended who would follow him around the enclosure," Lucy concluded.
