The Wire And John Wick Star Lance Reddick Has Died Aged 60

Lance Reddick, the esteemed actor, has passed away at the young age of 60.

Reddick gained prominence for his notable performances in John Wick and The Wire.

His publicist, Mia Hansen, stated in a message to the BBC: "Lance will be greatly missed."

"Please respect his family's privacy at this time."

Recognized as one of the leading lights of Hollywood, Reddick's impressive body of work and filmography are a testament to his exceptional acting abilities.

Throughout all four John Wick films, the now deceased actor portrayed the character of Charon, in addition to his role as Cedric Daniels, a recurring character on The Wire.

In addition to his noteworthy portrayals, Reddick also assumed the roles of Phillip Broyles in Fringe and Chief Irvin Irving in Bosch.

Reddick began his career in the mid-1990s with appearances in various television shows such as The Nanny and New York Undercover, but his breakthrough role that propelled him to stardom came in 2008.

As you might have guessed, it was The Wire that launched his career.

The drama series, created and predominantly written by author and former police reporter David Simon, revolves around Detective James McNulty (Dominic West) and his team as they navigate the streets of Baltimore.

The detectives put in diligent efforts to investigate crimes and bridge the gap between drug kingpins and law enforcement agencies.

Although the show did not achieve immediate success, it has since been recognized as one of the most distinguished and impactful dramas of the 21st century.

The series lasted for a period of six years, from 2002 until 2008.

Reddick's character, Cedric, made an appearance in all 60 episodes of the series.

That is truly remarkable.

His character is a formidable presence within the Baltimore Police Department.

Initially a lieutenant, viewers witness Cedric's character undergo growth and transformation as he ascends to the positions of major and ultimately commissioner throughout the show's five-season run.

Fans of the late actor have expressed their sympathies.

One Twitter user wrote: "Rest in peace to a an immensely talented man."

A second added: "Rest in peace to Lance Reddick, an incredible actor with an amazing body of work."

"He lent his amazing and unique voice, both literally and artistically, to many different projects and characters over his career."

"RIP Lance Reddick," wrote a third, "one of my favourite actors."

"Always gave the performance of his life in anything he was in from John Wick to The Wire to Fringe. He will be dearly missed."
