The Struggle To Overcome Emotional Trauma

I genuinely believe there is nothing worse than feeling like you are stuck in a rut. You feel alone and unhappy; sometimes, it even gets to the point where you don’t feel like there’s anything worth living for. You are not alone; so many people have gone through the same thing you are going through, and there is a way out! There is always a way out of any trauma that you might be going through right now. A specific event that took place might have caused your emotional trauma. Life isn’t always fair, and bad things often happen to good people. Elvis Presley once said, “When things go wrong, don’t go with them.” Here are a few things that can help bring you out of the rut you are stuck in and help you finally overcome that emotional trauma you are going through.

Stop putting yourself down-

The first step to making yourself happier is to stop unhealthy self-hatred. You are good enough, you are beautiful enough, you are perfect the way you are, and you shouldn’t be telling yourself otherwise. Did you know; a lot of people put themselves down more often than others put them down? That is very unhealthy. You should be your biggest supporter. You have insecurities, and you should own those insecurities. Your insecurities don’t define you; you define yourself.

Try boosting up your mood-

Go outside. That is the biggest advice I could give you when you are trying to boost your mood because when you go out, you are getting fresh air and aren’t isolated in your house. You can also see the plants and the lovely blue sky. Taking a walk outside is not only therapeutic, but it is also very healthy for you. You are getting sunlight, and it instantly boosts up your mood. In addition to going outside, you can also read a funny book or watch funny videos and movies. Putting a smile on your face helps you get in a positive mood. You can also take a yoga class or try meditation. There is more to life than staying in bed and being sad all day.

Get rid of negativity-

Negative people can be the end of you. Not only will they clog up your mind with negative thoughts. They will also seek your downfall, and they don’t want the best for you. Negative people are toxic to you. They can have you feeling low, even depressed, and make it seem like there is nothing fun about life. People you surround yourself with influence you so much more than you realize. They influence your decisions, the way you look at life, and the way you look at yourself. They even go as far as influencing the way you dress, so surrounding yourself with positive, uplifting people will help you so much in life.

On the bright side-

It can be incredibly hard to think about the bright side sometimes because you feel like there is no bright side. You probably tell yourself that your situation can’t possibly get any better and that it probably never will. I’m happy to tell you that you are very wrong about that. There is always a bright side to every situation, even if it seems like there is none. Maybe you’ve gone through a traumatic break-up; the bright side to that is the lessons that the relationship has taught you and the freedom to do as you wish now, without anyone holding you back. That is a bright side. There are two viewpoints on every situation; the negative viewpoint and the positive viewpoint. The positive viewpoint promises happier and optimistic things. I’m going to let your imagination run wild on what the negative viewpoint promises.

Try making others happy-

Lastly, trying to make other people happy, believe it or not, allows you to feel so much better about yourself. The little things like trying to help a child with their school assignment, donating something to charity, or helping the elderly change so many things. It helps people, and at the same time, you are helping yourself. You will feel like a good person that has done a good deed after all, and you will feel so much better.

I hope these little tips help you to overcome any sort of emotional and mental trauma or battles you are fighting at this time in your life. You deserve happiness, and you should know that.
