This cartoon features some of the most heartwarming writing, colorful animation and unexpected twists in animation history.

The film will make you cry. But don't worry, it definitely has a happy ending and will warm your heart.

If you haven't watched this classic film, here is a recap of what happens.

The coming-of-age story features a young Apatosaurus dinosaur named Littlefoot.

The young dinosaur is orphaned after a vicious T-Rex kills his mother. Afterward, a massive earthquake strikes their village, separating Littlefoot from his herd.

Lost and scared, Littlefoot decides to head towards a mythical oasis, The Great Valley, which his mother used to tell him about before she died.

On the journey, he encounters other young dinosaurs, also separated from their families.

They include Cerathe Triceratops (Threehorn), Petrie the Pteranodon (Flyer), Ducky the Saurolophus (Bigmouth), and Spike the Stegosaurus (Spiketail).

Guided by the spirit of Littlefoot's mom, the new companions trek to The Great Valley.

But obviously, it's not smooth sailing.

Along the way, they get tangled up with all sorts of trouble, including lava flows and a pack of 'dome heads.' And of course, the infamous T-Rex, who hunts the group until an epic showdown.

In case you haven't watched the film, we won't spoil the ending. But it holds 72 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes

However, the movie's appeal endures to this day—it has a 79 percent audience score. It also has an average 7.4-star rating on IMDb.

The Land Before Time was originally released way back in 1988, directed by the legendary Don Bluth. It stars Gabriel Damon (Littlefoot), Candace Hutson (Cera), Judith Barsi (Ducky), and Will Ryan (Spike).

If like me, you loved this film in your childhood, you can now stream it on Netflix.
