Tennis legend Martina Navratilova spoke out against the University of Pennsylvania's decision to nominate trans athlete Lia Thomas for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
Navratilova angrily tweeted:
In 2017, the nominated Lia Thomas was the 462nd-best male swimmer in the school. Thomas joined the women's team in 2020, following the transition. Quickly, she became the No. 1-ranked female collegiate swimmer in the US.
Czech–American Navratilova is one of the loudest supporters of LGBTQ+ rights in the world of sports. However, she talks about unfair advantages those born male have often.
Talking to News Match in March, the tennis icon said:
"It's not about excluding transgender women from winning, ever."
"But it is about not allowing them to win when they were not anywhere near winning as men. You try to keep it as close as possible to what it would have been had you been born in the female biological body in the first place."

Many argued that Martina, who is openly lesbian, is transphobic. However, there seem to be even more people who agree with her stance.

This is not a question of sports as it goes deep into our everyday lives.

This is one of the most talked about topics in sports. Here is one clip from BlazeTV that talks about the issue, though it is best to take into consideration numerous sources before you make up your mind.
