Special Ed Teacher Charged With Rape For Allegedly Sleeping With Student

A special education teacher from Oklahoma is battling rape charges after having sex with a 16-year-old student.
At this point, such stories are far too common, which goes to show how big of a problem illicit teacher-student relationships have become.
Andee Lantz, aged 26, got arrested in December and admitted to having an illegal sexual affair with the 16-year-old boy about two or three times. This is according to court documents obtained by the media.
The matter came to public attention after a student at Carnegie Public Schools started sharing a naked photo of the teacher. After the incident, the police started asking questions.
The teacher had allegedly sent the photo to the student, who then showed it to other students.
Initially, They Both Denied The Allegations
The school superintendent initially questioned the student and the teacher over the matter. However, they both denied that anything inappropriate was going on.
However, Lantz later changed her story to claim that they got into a relationship after a homecoming game. Apparently, at the time, the two were “riding around” before the boy leaned in and kissed her.
From there, a sexual relationship began.
According to investigators, one of the sexual encounters took place at the teacher’s home.
In Oklahoma, the age of consent is 16. However, even though the boy had already attained this age, it is still illegal for a teacher to have a sexual relationship with a student.
Following the scandal, Lantz resigned from her teaching position.
Also, after her arrest, she was released after paying a $15,000 bond. She was charged with second-degree rape.
Her next court hearing will be on March 12.
Parents are increasingly concerned about the rate at which teachers are having sexual relationships with students.
A local parent admitted that the story was sickening. Unfortunately, if the current trend is anything to go by, we will continue to read and hear of many such stories in the future.
