Have you ever heard of The National Chicken Council? This is not a joke. The nonprofit is very real, and it takes its work very seriously.
Most recently, the organization has released some very interesting statistics about meat consumption in the United States.
Notably, the organization has claimed that the average American devoured 92.4 pounds of chicken throughout the year in 2018, and estimates indicate that this figure has likely increased by 2 pounds for the year 2020.
To put that into perspective, the average American only ate 57.2 pounds of beef and 50.9 pounds of pork in the same year. In other words, Americans eat way more chicken than beef or pork.
