In a bizarre twist to the growing trend of sex dolls, men are ordering models that look like their friend's girlfriends.

The booming sex doll industry has witnessed the emergence of a new trend among its customers as many people now favor a particular type of product.

A sex doll manufacture has revealed celebrity-inspired models aren't flying off shelves like they used to.

Instead, more buyers are requesting dolls that resemble people they know in everyday life.

Some are even asking creators to make figures that resemble their friends' girlfriends.

Andy Phelps, the product specialist at Silicone Sex World, said:

"We do get customers who inquire about celebrity dolls, although they are not as popular as you may think…"

"But we do get some strange requests for dolls, such as dolls that look like friend's girlfriends."

While these requests may seem out of the ordinary, they're more common than you may think.

A businesswoman and the founder of Sex Doll Official, Jade Stanley, also noticed an increase in demand for dolls that look like 'everyday people.'

She said:

"In terms of customization, it's anything whatsoever – celebrity, dead spouse, or someone you fancy."

"It does vary. You get people asking for a Kim Kardashian or a girl next door."

"It's just so different across the board."

Jade also explained that creating the dolls is as easy as sending in a photo of someone you fancy.

Designers can also ask for details about the customer's liking.

It's hard to tell for sure if manufacturers can face legal charges for cashing in on dolls that look like a real person.

But neither the friends nor girlfriends would be happy to hear there's a silicon version of themselves tucked away in their mates' house.

Nowadays, there's a surge in people who prefer a silicon sex doll rather than having a regular human relationship.

And many doll owners claim they've never been happier in their life.

Speaking to New York Post, one person revealed:

"After my wife gave birth, we stopped having sex and I felt a deep sense of loneliness."

"But the moment I saw [sex doll] in the showroom, it was love at first sight."

"Men want someone to listen to them without grumbling when they get home from work."

"Whatever problems I have, [my doll] is always there waiting for me. And I love her to bits and want to be with her forever."

"I can't imagine going back to a human being. I want to be buried with her and take her to heaven."

Another said:

"Human beings are so demanding. People always want something from you—like money or commitment."

"My heart flutters when I come home to my [model]. She never betrays me. She makes my worries melt away."

Meanwhile, Hideo Tsuchiya, the managing director of doll maker Orient Industry noted:

"Technology has come a long way since nasty inflatable dolls in the 1970s."

"Today's dolls look incredibly real, and it feels like you're touching human skin."

"More men are buying them because they feel they can actually communicate with the dolls."
