Liza Scott is a 7-year-old girl in the US who sells lemonade to fund her brain surgeries. She sells this in a stand right outside her family's bakery in Homewood, Alabama.

On a norm, this would have just been applauded as a cute, innovative idea by a youngster. Buy some bread, get a lemonade. In this case, though, it is an attempt to raise funds for life-saving treatment.

Diagnosed With Rare Cerebral Malformations

In January, Liza suffered a seizure and was later diagnosed with 3 rare cerebral malformations.

According to the information on her fundraising page, the neurologists and neurosurgeons at the Children's hospital in Birmingham discovered the cerebral malformations.

To prevent further seizures, hemorrhage, or stroke, she requires immediate attention.

Liza needs numerous brain operations and the funds are not readily available.

Her lemonade business has inspired a lot of people. It has successfully brought her fundraising attempts to the eyes of many, more than imagined.

Liza though is afraid of what the outcome of the surgeries could be. She told WIAT:

"I hope I make it. My mum keeps saying I'm going to but I feel like I'm not."

She is already holding up pretty strong for a seven-year-old. Thoughts like the above are only common to humans, young or old.

Liza's mom, Elizabeth, mentioned on the fundraising page that Liza's seizure turned their hearts and lives upside down. But, Liza's Fundraising efforts have been inspiring and sort of comforting.

When Life Throws You Lemons

Elizabeth says:

"If there is anyone who can take lemons and make it into the most amazing lemonade ever, it is Liza. Liza's love for lemonade has inspired this next journey as we travel to Boston Children's (Hospital) for the unimaginable - multiple brain surgeries. From the start, Liza has taken the lemons thrown her way and shown us all that adding a little zest to life is what making lemonade is all about."

Liza's case is rare because in similar cases, doctors only see one malformation. Liza has 3, "the first, a Schizencephaly (or cleft) - the second, a Parietal Arteriovenous Malformation or AVM... and lastly, a Dural Arteriovenous Fistula (DAVM)."

The story has touched many, especially as this girl, despite her condition, tries to raise funds for herself. So far, over 4000 people have donated more than $214,000. She will undergo her first operation on March 8.
