seth rogen launches his very own cannabis company called houseplant

The actor and filmmaker Seth Rogen has enlisted a new endeavor called Houseplant, a company that sells weed. Since his public image is pretty much founded on his love for weed, it comes as a little surprise that he launched his own weed company.

He has chosen to make his affection for the pot more than a hobby, now a profession. On Monday, March 1, 2021, he officially announced his new company in a video via social media. In the video, he expressed how much he loved weed and how he had been working on setting up Houseplant for about 10 years.

What Houseplant Offers

In the announcement, Rogen listed a few products offered by the Houseplant including weed strains, and household items such as ashtrays, ceramics, and lighters. He set up this company alongside Evan Goldberg, his creative collaborator.

In his own words, Rogen said:

“If you know anything about me at all, I’m going to assume it’s that I really love weed. But what you probably don’t know about me is that I’ve been working on my own weed company for the last ten years and we are finally ready to launch in America.”

Houseplant got its start in Canada in 2019. It started as a subsidiary brand of Canopy Growth. Although its weed offerings will be available only in California at first, the CEO and co-founder, Michael Mohr, did mention that all other House goods offered by the company are available nationwide.

He told Fast Company:

“House Goods is our path to be able to build a relationship with people nationwide right from the start. The legal patchwork from state to state and federally makes it very challenging to scale cannabis business in the U.S right away.”

The Company’s Vision

Every business launches with the primary mission of making profits. It is the same for the Houseplant. But, it will also work with drug policy reform and criminal justice efforts both in Canada and the U.S. It also aims to establish a mentorship program aimed at assisting underserved cannabis entrepreneurs.

Goldberg said:

“We are very fortunate to be from Vancouver, a place that treated weed the way it did when we were kids, and the whole reason we’ve been so fortunate with this company is because of where we’re from and [being] able to cultivate this life around cannabis that other people haven’t. There’s a responsibility that comes with that.”

Since the second week of March, Houseplant weed has been available in California.
