Secrets Of Playboy: Was Hugh Hefner Obsessed With Manson?

In a few days, the new series Secrets of Playboy will give a fresh insight into the glamourous life of Hugh Hefner and Playmates. But, it also promises some disturbing and shocking truths, as Alexandra Dean, the director of the docu-series, promises.

Holly Madison, who dated Hefner from 2001 to 2008 and was in Playboy's reality, The Girl Next Door, dropped several bombshells, described "the mansion was very cult-like."

You probably heard that Hugh Hefner decided on what the girls should wear, but the control, allegedly, went beyond outfits.

Dean described that the word "cult" did not come only from Madison, saying " that's the fascination Hef had with Charles Manson."

The mini-series has ten episodes premiering on January 24. The aim is to untangle the enchanting mythology that has been alive for decades.

There have been several hints about what to expect, and each one was more gruesome than the other. Playboy Mansion allegedly holds secrets to suicides, kidnapping, drugs, orgies, and more.

In the first episode, the series documents how Hefner blackmailed numerous powerful men. There is talk about destroying sex tapes after Hefner's death in the final episode.

As for Manson-related allegations, it is not a secret that Hugh Hefner was fascinated by Sharon Tate, who was brutally murdered by the Manson's cult.

Sondra Theodore, who dated Hefner in the late 70s and early 80s, stated that Hefner studied the Helter Skelter book about the Manson murders and further explained:

"It was like, OK, Hef is intentionally cribbing off of this guy — and he's obviously not a coldblooded murderer. What he's cribbing off of is this control of the women."

Madison claims that Playmates were "gaslit" into thinking Hugh is a nice guy and a protector. At the same time, Playmates lived isolated from the world and had to be in the house by 9 pm.

In response to the claims, Playboy says that "the Hefner family is no longer associated with Playboy, and today's Playboy is not Hugh Hefner's Playboy."

Holly alleges she was forced to have plastic surgeries, among other things.

Let's wait and see what Secrets of Playboy will look like, who else participated in the series, and just how much control Hugh Hefner had over the numerous young women over the years.
