Researchers of American Physiological Society have acknowledged that one nap (doze) in the afternoon keeps the heart healthy. Through this research, the effect of sleep on cardiovascular system was conceded. They researched eight males and one female. All of them did not have the habit of sleeping in the afternoon.
In the first phase they were asked to take a nap of 15-minutes, and in the second phase, they were asked to take a 30-minute nap. In the third phase, the activity of the cardiovascular system was assessed.
At last, they concluded, that sleeping for a few minutes in the afternoon is beneficial. They said that sleeping is necessary because the heart rate and blood pressure is reduced while sleeping in the night. It gives rest to the cardiovascular system.
