Gilbert reveals that when she shared her sexual orientation with fellow cast member Johnny Galecki, whom she briefly dated, he provided unwavering support and kept her secret for many years.

During the 90s, the television show Roseanne was a tremendous success and served as a significant breakthrough for several actors who appeared on the program.

At only 13 years old, Sarah Gilbert, a renowned actress, director, and producer who later became one of the creators and former co-hosts of The Talk, secured a role on Roseanne.

Gilbert portrayed the character of Darlene Conner, the witty middle child, which garnered her widespread recognition and several accolades, including two Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

During her time on Roseanne, Sarah Gilbert's on-screen romantic partner was portrayed by actor Johnny Galecki. However, it is not commonly known that the two were also briefly involved in a real-life romantic relationship.

During an episode of The Talk, Gilbert spoke candidly about her personal life, discussing her romantic history and how Galecki provided unwavering support during a time when she struggled to come to terms with her sexuality.

"I thought he was super cute and had a total crush on him," she said about Galecki, "and we started dating and he would come over and we would make out and then I would start to get depressed."

In the meantime, Galecki assumed that Gilbert's despondent demeanor was somehow related to him. Nevertheless, Gilbert chose to confide in him about her inner turmoil.

"I eventually told him I thought it was about my sexuality, and he was super sweet about it," she confessed.

Upon realizing her attraction to individuals of the same gender, Gilbert became genuinely concerned about her future in Hollywood.

"It was something people could have found out about and Johnny, like, no one knew at the show, for years, and Johnny held the secret the whole time," she said, adding:

"And I just felt so scared if it came out, what could happen. Could I lose my career? Would I ever be able to play a straight role again?"

Despite her concerns, Gilbert quickly realized that she had a dependable support system in place, and Galecki remained a constant source of comfort and assistance.

When Gilbert disclosed her romantic involvement with him, he assured her by saying:

"Of course. I love you, and I think it's really important and I'm so proud of you. If you want, I will be there, and I will hold your hand."
