The upcoming dystopian thriller with Rosamund Pike sounds too bizarre, especially since we are still in the middle of the pandemic. The movie's premise is that there is a deadly flu that kills only the rich ones.
The movie, Rich Flu, is described as a film where "billionaires and multi-millionaires" surrender to a "strange disease" that's recently emerged. It sounds like an SF thriller, yet it hits too close to home because of Covid 19.
Apart from the main star, Rosamund Pike, not much is known about the cast. The movie will be directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, whose debut The Platform from 2019 was one of the year's best movies.
Pablo LarraĆn will be a producer, and Urrutia revealed:
"Rich Flu is an immense physical saga, full of twists, obstacles, and surprises."
"But, above all, it is a complex and provocative emotional journey to the depths of the human soul and the pinnacles of our glorious self-indulgence."
If it weren't for such a good crew gathered around the movie, one would think it was a parody. However, with these names attached, it sounds intriguing.
Pike was in Gone Girl, Fracture, Hostiles, and numerous other cinematic experiences, so her presence alone already makes a dystopian movie, Rich Flu, sound a bit better.
