Roger Moore's Son: James Bond Should Not Be Played By A Woman

The question of who will play the iconic British spy in the next James Bond film has been a hot topic since Daniel Craig announced he would be stepping down from the role after No Time To Die.

Jaffa Moore, the son of Roger Moore, has expressed his belief that only a male actor should portray James Bond on screen.

When asked whether the role of James Bond should ever be given to a woman, Jaffa - whose father played the iconic spy in numerous films, including A View To Kill and Live And Let Die - shared his opinion.

"Well, then it's no longer James Bond," he shared, adding: "I mean, she could be 006, 008, or 009…"

Despite Lashana Lynch being given the infamous codename in No Time To Die, Jaffa still believes that it created "confusion" among viewers.

"In the last Bond, I think this was the confusion. That she [Lashana's character Nomi] was 007 and then said, 'I've got to give it back to Bond. It's his number," he said.

Jaffa proposed that filmmakers could create a new character, such as a "Jane or Jemima Bond," for female actresses.

When questioned about the possibility of having more women in action films, Jaffa acknowledged the abilities of actresses like Charlize Theron, citing her performance in Atomic Blonde as an example.

In 2021, Daniel Craig was also asked his opinion on the matter of a female Bond character. During an interview with Radio Times, he responded:

"The answer to that is very simple. There should simply be better parts for women and actors of color."

"Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?"

Barbara Broccoli, the producer of the James Bond films, expressed similar sentiments to Craig during an appearance on Good Morning Britain in 2019. In her statement, she said: "We have to make movies about women and women's stories but we have to create female characters and not just for a gimmick turn a male character into a woman."
