A 15-years-old Texan girl, Jasmine Melendez, dies after a beating, and sexual assault.

According to family members, they found Jasmine in the front yard beaten with multiple injuries.

First responders then rushed her to a hospital in Dallas with fluid on her brain and head trauma.

However, the teen succumbed to her injuries after suffering a heart attack.

Following the teen's death, Midland authorities issued a statement.

They said:

"The Midland Fire Department responded to a call for medical assistance. And due to the nature of the call, involving a juvenile, asked the Midland Police Department for assistance."

"Midland Police responded, and an investigation is ongoing."

Many of Jasmine's family and friends are taking to social media with the hashtag #Justice4Jasmine.

In a statement, the family said:

"We are heartbroken at the loss of our daughter and are searching for answers. We want justice for Jasmine."

"We're waiting for the medical professionals to complete their reports and allowing law enforcement time to thoroughly investigate the case."

"We want to thank the community for their outpouring of love and support."

Jasmine Melendez was a big part of the Softball community in Midland and spent most of her time at the M.U.G.S. softball complex.

The people who knew Jasmine best are saying that although her death was tragic, it's who she was as a person that they'll remember.

Many described her as a 'sweet and hardworking' teen.

Jennifer Evans, a former softball coach, said Jasmine was a 'star athlete and an even better person.'

Jennifer said:

"She was really compassionate and would just lift up everybody, you know what I mean. She was encouraging."

"People called her feet because she was crazy fast. Even the ones who needed help or guidance or anything, she would help them out. She was a great friend."

Jennifer added:

"Her smile lit it up the room; it lit up the field."

Many Midland Groups Organize Fundraisers to Support Melendez's Family

In addition to a GoFundMe page, the Midland High School Softball Team is also raising money to help Jasmine's family.

In a Facebook post, the team said:

"As many of you are aware, a member of the Midland High softball team and her family have experienced a devastating life event."

"To help defer any expenses related to this event, the M.H.S. Softball Booster Club is creating a donation account to assist our athlete and her family."

"There will be two accounts. A medical account to defer any hospital costs and a scholarship account that'll honor [Jasmine's] hard work and dedication to the team."

Jasmine's tragic death is still under investigation.
