Social media streets were buzzing after K-Pop fans got to see a photo of Red Velvet's Wendy.
This was no ordinary photo and it was the first one released by SM Entertainment since her accident.
Wendy, who is admired and adored by millions of fans, suffered a serious injury. This meant she had to put her career on hold.
The Accident
On 25 December 2019, Wendy got seriously injured at SBS Gayo Daejeon rehearsals. Apparently, she fell from a platform that is said to be 2 meters high.
It is believed negligent safety measures are to blame for the star's fall. She ended up with injuries to her face and wrist, as well as a fractured pelvis.
Since the accident, her loyal fans - referred to as ReVeluvs - didn't receive much in updates on her health.
She did try to let her fans know how she coped, but used old photos on Instagram to do so.
The Photo
Fortunately, on 19 August, SM Entertainment shared the first photo in a while, showing everyone that Wendy is doing okay.
Wendy looked gorgeous in a floral dress rounded off with silver shoes and her fans were happy to see that she's back on her feet.
The teaser was the only full-body photo on the set where Red Velvet is part of the cover project dedicated to Our Beloved BoA,'s 20th anniversary.
Fans' Reaction
After not hearing from Wendy in a while, her fans were in disbelief at first. It didn't take long for that to change into relief though.
Now they know that Wendy is recovering very well after her injuries and that she will be in the music video of 'Milky Way'. Red Velvet will be doing a cover of this track by BoA.
It doesn't come as a surprise that the fans' happiness got Wendy to trend on social media. Thousands of ReVeluvs were tweeting with joy as soon as they got to see the now-famous photo.
In fact, the teaser got so much attention that it could easily set a new record. After all, 50 000 retweets in just 45 minutes is an impressive reaction.
On top of that, it took only 15 minutes for Wendy's name to reach the Top 10 trends on Twitter globally. The hashtag #WeMissedYouWendy trended worldwide at number five.
Fans and admirers of the star and Red Velvet are hoping that this teasing photo will be the first of many.
They can't wait to see more of Wendy and will likely be watching their social media feeds closely for any new updates.
