Fictional characters can be real as the resemblance between Ho Van Lang and Tarzan is more than evident.
Eight years ago, the 49-year-old man named Ho Van Lang started his second life. He was rescued from the jungle, and his father was with him too.
The men lived in the jungle for decades. They were isolated from all threads that connected them to the human world.
The Call Of The Wild
Ho Van Lang, his brother Ti, and their dad ran away from the real world during Vietnam War back in 1972.
The US bomb had killed half of their family, which was enough to convince them that they needed a safer place. The goal was to stay alive.
So, they escaped from the dangerous war zone and started living in the wilderness.
In The Jungle, The Mighty Jungle
One could never guess that modern-day people are capable of looking after themselves while living in the wilderness. However, the three men proved that some life situations would make you succeed in everything.
Even the impossible things will start looking practical and likely.
They survived in the jungle, completely depending on nature's mercy. Moreover, Lang mentioned that he had no idea how the world functions. For example, he didn't know that there were other human beings, women.
His rescuer, Cerezo, claimed:
"More surprising still is that today, despite being able to distinguish between men and women, he still doesn't know the essential difference between them."
Lang described how his father never explained to him what a female is, and he saw them for the first time in the village.
Living in the wilderness, cut off from the outside world, has its consequences too.
Meet Ho Van Lang
This brave man named Ho Van Lang now lives in a small Vietnamese village with his family.
Back then, during the war in 1972, when the US bomb killed his mother and two of his siblings, his father decided that they would leave everything they had.
It was time for a new start. But more importantly, it was time to live a safer, carefree life.
War Traumas Are Real
The men were rescued 41 years later.
Can you believe it? They spent nearly half of their lives living in the jungle.
And this lifestyle, plus the things they saw and survived through the Vietnam War, surely left some deep scars.
The father, Ho Van Thanh, said that he doubts he will heal from the terrors he suffered. He admitted that he has aprofound phobia of returning to live in the real world. Moreover, he did not believe that the Vietnam War was over.
Ho Van Thanh was looking forward to the day when he will return to the jungle once again.
Living In The Wilderness Is A Challenge
According to his family, Ho Van Lang knows nothing about the real world outside the jungle. He is like a small baby that still learns everything about his surroundings. And everything in life in general.
For four decades, he and his dad lived deep in the Vietnam jungle, in the Tay Tra district of the Quang Ngai province.
And no matter how hard it is to believe that he did it, living in the heart of the jungle wasn't easy at all. Not to mention that he spent exactly 41 years of raw hunting, eating fruit and honey, or other creatures like rats.
Surviving Despite All Odds
Throughout his jungle life, Ho Van Lang learned to hunt and to feed himself to stay alive.
He explained that life in the jungle might sound pleasing. But in reality, it's everything except that.
During the time he was living in the jungle, he and his dad rarely saw any people. And when they saw other people, instead of socializing and talking, they both hid from them and ran away.
Back To Life, Back To Reality
Finally, in 2015, they were tracked down and saved by Alvaro Cerezo. So, their life in the wilderness came to an end.
"They always escaped when they saw people from a distance."
Moreover, he added:
"I can confirm that Lang has never had the minimum sexual desire, and his reproductive instinct has never shown its head in any of its many facets."
According to his brother, Ho Van Lang is like a toddler trapped in a man's body. He doesn't understand many social concepts, nor his instincts.
"If I asked Lang to beat someone, he would do it severely. He doesn't know the difference between good and bad. Lang is just a child. He doesn't know anything. Most people know what is good or bad in life, but my brother doesn't."
This Is The World We Live In
When Ho Van Lang was brought to the village, a bacteria affected his fragile immune system. He recovered, but the first year he got back from the jungle was definitely the hardest for him.
Accommodating was a tough thing, but he succeeded.
His rescuer, Cerezo, said that Lang was happily adapted to his new life. He confirmed that Ho Van Lang was probably the most adorable human he had ever met in his life.
Moreover, he added how happy Lang was to see animals that were friendly with people. According to the life he had and the dangerous jungle animals he faced, this small detail was something new to him.
Such an inspiring story. Without any doubt, Ho Van Lang's life was an adventurous ride.
