Rapper Nipsey Hussle Killed In Shooting Outside His L.A. Store

Nipsey Hussle, a Grammy-nominated rapper and a community activist, has been shot dead. This 33-year old musician has been shot in a shooting on Sunday afternoon outside his store in Los Angeles.

Mayor Eric Garcetti's Crisis has confirmed the news. He released a statement that the city has lost a prominent musician due to senseless gun shooting. Musicians including Rihanna, LeBron James, and Kendrick Lamar had paid their tributes to this great rapper.

According to a police report, Hussle was shot several times in front of his Marathon Clothing store at 3:25 P.M. The police sources said that the rapper was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a while later.

The other two men got shot in the shootings and are in stable condition. According to police Lt. Chris Martinez's report, one of the men is under treatment while the other declined treatment.

Details of the shooting remain unclear, but police sources say that Hussle was shot by a young man at a close range. The shooter then escaped with a getaway car.

A few hours before Hassle was killed, he had twitted; "Having strong enemies is a Blessing."

Drake has paid tribute to Hussle together with other musicians. He has tweeted that Hussle was a real rapper among other rappers. Rihanna wrote that her spirit has been shaken by the tragic news and offered comfort to his loved ones.

Kendrick Lamar at a concert in Buenos Aires has described Hussle as a warrior, a brother, and a soldier. Lamar also led a moment of silence to pay respect to Hussle.

Hussle had earlier been associated with Rollin 60s, the largest Los Angeles, street gang. He had publicly acknowledged his involvement in this gang in 2010 during an interview by Complex Magazine.

However, in recent years, Hussle had a great interest in community development and technology. He was among the entrepreneurs and artists who launched Destination Crenshaw, a museum developed to honor the artistic achievement of African-Americans.

Hussle also invested in Vector 90, a South-Central Los Angeles co-working space. The organization helps young people in taking classes in technology, science, and mathematics.

Hussle viewed the organization as a bridge between the inner city and Silicon Valley. In an Afrotech conference last year, he said that he had the hope of expanding the outreach to other cities including Baltimore, Washington, and Atlanta.

Hussle was the father to a 2 1/2-year-old child of actor Lauren London. He also had other kids from previous relationships.
