Queens of the Stone Age guitarist and founding member Josh Homme was Bourdain's close friend and co-worker. The two came from different worlds, but Homme appeared on No Reservations and wrote the Parts Unknown theme song with Mark Lanegan.

When he first heard that the iconic chef commited suicide, Homme wrote on his Twitter:

Dammit Tony. I'm so sorry. I'm so destroyed. I love you brother. I miss you too much already.

Lanegan was heartbroken:

@Bourdain was such a positive force in my life and so many others. A great friend and artist. What a sad f**king day.

He was one of many musicians who loved Bourdain, not only as a world class writer, explorer and chef. But also, because Tony Bourdain was an unexpected punk rock icon as well.

The letter Homme shared is heart-wrenching

After a series of public statements, which included former POTUS, Barack Obama, Iggy Pop, Debbie Harry, and others, people who knew Bourdain wanted to heal.

That's when real stories started to come to life, proving that Anthony Bourdain was the real deal. Josh Homme made an unexpected appearance on No Reservations. He played a Spanish guitar to Bourdain's obvious dismay, so the chef decided to smash the guitar against a tree.

Camille, Hamm's daughter, was not pleased. So, Anthony Bourdain wrote her an apology letter. It was funny and empathetic, everything we've come to expect from the legendary chef.

"Ariane, this was your father," Homme wrote, speaking to Bourdain's 11-year-old daughter with ex-wife Ottavia Busia. On the official Queens of The Stone Age Twitter page, the guitarist shared the letter:

I hear you were very upset with me after seeing the promo for this show, which I filmed recently with your Daddy and his friends. You saw me take Daddy's guitar and smash it against a tree, and I'm sure that was upsetting.

The famed chef went on to explain that Camille didn't have to worry. That wasn't her dad's real guitar, as it was an homage to a movie.

And so Bourdain wrote:

That this was, in fact a not so subtle homage to the early works of John Landis and John Belushi is something you could have hardly been expected to know, ANIMAL HOUSE having been released long before you were born, and I apologize. In real life, Daddy would have been very angry were I to do such a thing — and as he is a large man, I strongly suspect I would not still be here to write this letter.

The most Bourdain part of the letter

He goes on to state that "I like your Daddy very much. We are friends." And before he completely showed his tender side and opened up to the little girl, Tony added that it was "very nice to let me and my camera crew hang out with him all week."

For most people, near the end lies the real gem. Bourdain wrote:

When you watch the show, I hope there is nothing else in there that upsets you. You will surely see how completely brilliant Daddy is at work. You will hear a lot of great music. If you are a foodie, you will probably be terribly disappointed at the change of hours in this week's episode, but at your tender age, I doubt that such a terrible thing as that could have befallen you. Life, for you, is still filled with hope and promise.

As if he couldn't get any sweeter, the chef declared to young Camilla that her dad's also a great cook. He then spoke about things he enjoys making for his daughter.

We all know Bourdain as a foodie writer. And we know him as a traveler, celebrity chef, but he was a deeply caring dad, and like other great fathers, he knew how to make a little girl's day.

Hopefully, one day Camille, who's now 14, will get to learn all about her dad's friend. His struggles, as well as his battles for better treatment of women, since Bourdain was among the first celebrities to call out Harvey Weinstein.
