Prince George recently celebrated his eighth birthday, as his parents celebrated their tenth anniversary. But did you know that HRH Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William actually had different plans for their oldest son?

Yes, young Prince almost got a different name, but the couple decided to respect the tradition. Here is all we know about this last-minute name change in the most famous Royal family in the world.

Kate's First Parenting Dilemma

It is no secret that the future Queen, simply known as Kate Middleton, loves to share stories about parenting, homeschooling during the pandemic and is pretty much a hands-on mother.

Becoming A Family Of Five

After the wedding of the century, William and Kate had one task: the create an heir to the British throne.

In July 2013, Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge was born, and he is now third in the line of succession.

Kate soldiered up, and just like her mother-in-law, Diana, she showed the world her firstborn in a similar dress. Though they never met, Kate knew that paying tribute to his wife's mom is a small yet significant tribute.

Soon after, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born in May 2015.

From the day she was born, Charlotte was a rule maker. Despite having a younger brother, she is the first female royal to retain her claim to the throne.

Before the Crown Act from 2013, Prince Louis would take over Charlotte's place. But that's not the case, and Charlotte is fourth, while Louis is fifth in the line to the throne.

Kate - The Fashion Icon

We loved Kate's dresses, boots, and laid-back girly style during her dating years.

However, she didn't become a fashion queen until she felt comfortable enough in her new role as a wife of the future King.

She is also responsible for creating a look that is both traditional and modern for her children.

Of course, her main inspiration comes from Lady Diana.

Prince George Is Growing Up So Fast

In all of their outings, the Cambridge children showed they are well behaved, adorable, and natural at the roles they will take over in the upcoming years.

Prince George doesn't shy away from hiding his feelings, especially when he's watching soccer.

The young Prince was almost called a different name, and people have a lot of opinions, as they usually do when it comes to the British Royals.

The name overturn came eight years after his birth, but the public is still upset.

Some people criticized Kate, and others were supportive. We tend to believe that Shakespeare was right: "What's in a name?"

Prince George Was Initially Called...

Though they settled for the name George Alexander Louis, that was not Kate's first choice.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl told Daily Mirror that although the couple had not found out the gender of their first child, Kate had set her heart on a name. She said:

"Courtiers insisted the pair had not found out the sex of their unborn baby, and friends close to the couple claim William wanted a surprise."

"Although Kate apparently suspected it was a boy and had set her heart on the name Alexander, they had not yet decided what to call their firstborn."

So, why did the couple the name?

Apparently, they wanted to honor the Queen's father, King George VI.

Of course, this doesn't change the fact that Prince George is growing into a lovely young man, and the couple used Alexander as his middle name.

Everyone was happy at the end of the day, and Kate and William still have enough time for another baby.
