Though they settled for the name George Alexander Louis, that was not Kate's first choice.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl told Daily Mirror that although the couple had not found out the gender of their first child, Kate had set her heart on a name. She said:

"Courtiers insisted the pair had not found out the sex of their unborn baby, and friends close to the couple claim William wanted a surprise."

"Although Kate apparently suspected it was a boy and had set her heart on the name Alexander, they had not yet decided what to call their firstborn."

So, why did the couple the name?

Apparently, they wanted to honor the Queen's father, King George VI.

Of course, this doesn't change the fact that Prince George is growing into a lovely young man, and the couple used Alexander as his middle name.
