Donald Trump and Michelle Obama have something in common. Shocking, but according to the Gallup poll, the Americans admire these two the most.
Trump is the most admired man, followed by Barack Obama, who lost the title after 12 years in a row. Michelle Obama ranks as the most admired woman for the third year in a row as Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is behind her.
The most admired men in the States
The annual poll, which started 74 years ago, didn't bring many surprises in 2020. Following Trump and Obama is doctor Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert.
The republicans gave 38% of their rating to Trump, while the Democrats gave Obama 32%.
Overall, 18% of Americans name Trump, 15% name Obama, 6% Biden and 3% Fauci.
The remaining top 10 men include Pope Francis, Elon Musk, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Bill Gates, LeBron James, and the Dalai Lama as the USA's most admired men.
This year marks the 10th time Trump had finished among the top 10, including four times before entering party politics, 1988, 1989, 1990, and 2011.
The Most Admired Women in the USA
Just as men who were president have occupied the most admired list of men, women who were first ladies have often been named most admired women.
The list of most admired ladies is 71 years old. This year, 10% of Americans recognized Michelle Obama as the most admired woman. Six percent named Harris, and 4% named soon to be ex-first lady Melania Trump.
The remaining spots include Oprah, Angela Merkel, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Queen Elizabeth II, Amy Coney Barrett, and activist Greta Thunberg.
Sixteen percent of Americans named a relative or friend as the woman they admire most, and 19% do not have an opinion.
The Queen wins every time
Queen Elizabeth's top 10 finish this year is her 52nd, and it's far more than any other woman. Margaret Thatcher is second on the list with 34 top 10 appearances. Oprah Winfrey follows at 33, and Clinton was featured on the list 29 times.
Some suggested that Harris might take over the first place in the upcoming years since she's been the driving force behind Biden's big election victory.
