Police Force Releases Footage Of Its Own Captain Trying To Avoid A DUI Arrest

A footage has emerged depicting an Oklahoma police captain's attempt to evade a DUI arrest, wherein he pleaded with the officer to disable his body camera.

The Oklahoma City Police Department released the video clip of Captain James French, a seasoned officer of 32 years, endeavoring to persuade the arresting officer to go easy on him.

Upon suspecting that the police captain had consumed alcohol before driving, an officer halted him and conducted a field sobriety test, which French objected to.

In the video, French can be heard attempting to flatter his colleague, revealing his rank as an Oklahoma City police captain and requesting the officer to deactivate his body camera to converse privately.

Despite French's request, the officer declined to turn off the device and instructed him to exit the vehicle, interrogating him about the amount of alcohol he had consumed that evening.

French initially denied having consumed a significant amount of alcohol, claiming he had only consumed a few beers during a poker game earlier that evening.

However, despite French's repeated requests to disable the camera, the officer declined and instructed him to undergo the sobriety test.

"I don't show favoritism to anyone, regardless," the officer can be heard saying in the video.

"I don't care if you're a gang banger or the President of the United States… If I were to treat you differently than I was to treat like, some southside loco or some pedo, how's that look on me?"

Upon failing to demonstrate his sobriety, he was instructed to place his hands behind his back. The officer subsequently handcuffed him and deactivated the camera.

As stated by a spokesperson for the Oklahoma County Detention Center, French has been put on administrative leave and is awaiting a criminal investigation.
