A firefighter and his girlfriend raped a seven-year-old girl, then 'stitched up her bloody wounds with a sewing kit.'
Argelio Pupo, 32, and his real-estate broker girlfriend Morgan Keene, 27, attacked the seven-year-old girl to 'teach her how to have a baby.'
The abuse started when Pupo raped the young girl in a bedroom while Keene watched.
The gruesome attack caused the child to bleed out, and Keene helped clean her up. She then told her to take a shower and go to sleep.
This assault came to light after police responded to a disturbance at the home.
Once on the scene, officers spoke to two witnesses to whom the victim had disclosed details of the alleged abuse.
One of the witnesses showed the officers a video of the victim describing the suspects' actions.
A witness also said the seven-year-old revealed the couple made her do 'sexual acts that she did not wish to perform.'
According to the arrest affidavit, police said:
"The victim mentioned that they were trying to teach her how to have a baby."
They added:
"The victim also stated [Keene] was present when this incident occurred. Keene also assisted in cleaning up the blood before ultimately telling the victim to go shower and go to bed."
The child also claimed Keene bought a sewing kit the following day, and then Pupo stitched her wounds.
Police also obtain text messages that show Keene texted a friend, an obstetrics nurse, and led her to believe she was inquiring about her own 'vaginal tear.'
And the nurse told Keene to go to the doctor.
However, she responded that the victim's injuries were instead stitched up.
And when the nurse asked her who stitched up the wounds and if they used lidocaine—an anesthetic—Keene said Pupo did the stitching.
Police then questioned Keene, who claimed she was pregnant.
She also told cops she had been trying to get Pupo out of their house because of 'physical and mental abuse.'
On one occasion, Keene claimed Pupo hit her with an ice bag over a social media issue, causing a black eye and partial vision loss.
She also alleged he kicked her in the ribs after finding out she was pregnant. He afterward poked her in the stomach with his crutches.
However, Keene denied the allegations about sexual assaults, claiming she never witnessed any physical or sexual abuse on the victim.
Pupo is now facing the capital sexual battery of a child under 12 and aggravated child abuse charges. While Keene is facing capital sexual battery, and neglect of a child with great bodily harm.
Both Pupo and Keene remain behind bars in Orange County Jail without bail.
The maximum sentence for a person convicted of capital sexual battery of a child under 12 is life in prison.
The Kissimmee Fire Department has placed Pupo on administrative leave without pay.
