More than 1.4 million people sign petition to remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.

Heard rose to fame after playing Mera, the princess of Xebel—one of the underwater kingdoms—in Justice League in 2017.

She then went on to reprise her role alongside Jason Momoa in 2018's Aquaman. This film is currently the highest-grossing DC movie of all time.

Heard is set to return for Aquaman 2 coming in 2022.

However, she has lately been the center of controversy with her ex-husband Johnny Depp.

Depp and Heard first met and sparked romance while filming The Rum Diary in 2011.

The two married on Depp's private island in the Bahamas in 2015, but Heard filed a divorce in 2016.

She then obtained a restraining order against Depp, claiming he physically and verbally abused her. She also accused Depp of trying to get her fired from Aquaman 2, among other allegations.

All these allegations led to criticism over Depp starring in the Fantastic Beasts films in 2016.

And in 2019, Depp sued Heard for defamation. Heard had written an op-ed for The Washington Post, claiming she's a domestic violence victim during their short-lived marriage.

Depp also sued The Sun after they dubbed him a 'wife-beater' in one of their articles.

The case went on trial, and the judge ruled against Depp. The jury cited that 'there's enough evidence to support Heard's claims.'

Shortly after, Depp announced that Warner Bros. studio asked him to resign from Fantastic Beasts 3.

Following Depp's departure from the franchise, people are now calling for Heard's firing from the upcoming Aquaman 2.

Outraged fans also launched an online petition arguing she should face the same consequences as Depp.

The Change.org petition titled 'Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2' has now received more than 1.4 million signatures.

Part of the petition reads:

Since Heard's divorce from Johnny Depp, she has… crusaded to ruin Depp in Hollywood.

It continues:

Men are also victims of domestic abuse, just like women.

This must be recognized, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry.

Do the right thing. Remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2.

The petition also notes that Heard was arrested in 2009 for domestic abuse of her former partner.

It also claims that Heard has attempted to ruin Depp's career since their divorce, making false abuse claims.

With the petition garnering nearly 1.5 million signatures, it's clear Depp has many fans who want to see Heard face a similar fate.

And many fans would love to see Emilia Clarke replace Heard in Aquaman 2.

Digital artist BossLogic took the idea and imagined what Emilia Clarke as Mera in Aquaman 2 could look like on the big screen.

While the petition to remove Heard from Aquaman 2 gains momentum, fans also launched another petition calling for Warner Bros. to reinstate Depp.

This petition has received more than 219,000 signatures.

An update on the petition, titled 'Warner Bros, Bring back Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindewald' reads:

Hey! First of all, thank you for showing all this support to Johnny Depp!

Also, I understand that a lot of you don't want him to go back because of the way he was treated by Warner Brothers.

I initially made this petition for him to get the role back, but now it's to show our support in general to Johnny Depp. And to send a message to the world that we will get justice for him… and that his career is not over.
