Have you ever thought about using dollar store laundry baskets to grow strawberries? It is PURE genius!

But first, let us explain WHY people are doing this…

Strawberries grow out and down more easily in these baskets, and they are easier to harvest once they get ripe!

If you are eager to try it out yourself, here is exactly what you need:

You will need a plastic laundry hamper with holes on the outside (you can just get one from the Dollar Store), a garbage bag, dirt, strawberry plants, and a 2-inch PVC pipe for watering.

Then, just do as Julie says:

"Grab a couple of laundry baskets like these at the Dollar Store….use a plastic trash bag to line it and fill it with dirt. Start at the bottom of the basket and use a steak knife or scissors to cut through the plastic liner and insert the strawberry plant. Work your way up to the top, and be sure to skip a few holes so it doesn't get crowded. Insert a piece of 2-inch PVC pipe with holes drilled into it to make watering easy peasy. Cut off the excess plastic liner at the top, and you're done! Before long, you'll have plenty of strawberries to enjoy!"

And voilá! You now have a planter for your strawberries that is inexpensive and much easier for planting and harvesting strawberries.

One more thing, do not forget to paint some rocks to look like strawberries, to keep any pesky critters off your precious, home-grown fruits!
