HBO Max has canceled the January 8 red carpet Los Angeles premiere of the highly anticipated series Peacemaker.
The decision has been made due to Omicron, the most contagious Covid-19 variant so far.
Peacemaker stars John Cena in the title role, and it explores the story of the character beyond The Suicide Squad.
The series also stars Danielle Brooks as Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, Chukwudi Iwuji as Murn, Jennifer Holland as Harcourt, Steve Agee as Economos, and Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith.
Though there will be no red carpet event, the series will hit HBO Max on January 13, as planned.
James Gunn's sense of humor and unique directing style made The Suicide Squad a massive success. That's is why many are excited about the upcoming Peacemaker. According to the first critics' reviews, the series centered around Christopher Smith, aka Peacemaker, is unexpectedly heartfelt.
All eight episodes were written by Gunn, while he directed five. Gunn explained that Peacemaker "has a lot to learn in his interview." The series will explore his sadness, relationship with his father, and of course, the neverending dilemmas superheroes of his kind face.
