nurse suspended after taking photo of patient’s penis and filming woman’s butt hole during surgery

A New York nurse filmed patients’ intimate parts while they were unconscious. Her coworkers complained about her behavior, and she had to surrender her medical license.

27-year-old Kristen Johnson was charged with two felony counts, but she avoided jail time by pleading guilty.

The nurse from hell worked in the Upstate Medical Hospital in Syracuse, New York.

Criminal and disturbing behavior

Johnson was arrested and originally received two felony counts of unlawful surveillance and a misdemeanor of disseminating unlawful surveillance.

However, Johnson pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor. As a part of the deal, she agreed to three years of probation in exchange for felony charges being dropped.

The nurse was using the iPhone 5 for taking illicit photos and films of the patients. She later showed the picture of an unconscious man’s penis and a film with a woman’s rectum to her co-worker.

According to the court documents, she also filmed a fellow nurse while cleaning a female patient’s gastrointestinal blood clot.

The investigation took nine months. After the police seized Johnson’s laptop, they took the case to the Onondaga County District Attorney’s office and the State University Police.

District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said in a statement:

“Despite what certain people seem to think, it is a crime in the state of New York to view, broadcast, or record images of another person’s intimate body parts, surreptitiously.”

Johnson has turned in her nursing license, and the patients’ families were informed regarding the illicit photos and videos.

The motive remains unclear. However, what is clear is that this behavior is beyond rational. Breaching someone’s privacy when they’re in a vulnerable state is unexpectable.
