Nicki Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, has pleaded not guilty to failing to register as a sex offender in California, the U.S. Marshals Service confirmed.
Even if the whole world knows that you're a sex offender, the law dictates that every sex offender must register as a Sex Offender.
This is the hard truth that Nicki Minaj's hubby Kenneth Petty discovered upon failing to register in California, and now he's being federally indicted.
Petty was initially arrested during a traffic stop in Beverly Hills on November 15 last year, and the L.A. County D.A. charged him with failing to register as a sex offender in California state after moving in with Nicki Minaj (he is already registered in New York).

He was later released on bond at the time. Apparently, he didn't register after the fact. And on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, Petty turned himself into federal marshals and has been taken into custody.
Sex offenders in the U.S. are required to register by the Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) - which is the country's sex offender registration system.
The act dictates that offenders are "required to update their registration in each jurisdiction they reside, are employed, or attend school." And failure to comply with this law is considered a federal crime.
According to officials, Petty turned himself into U.S. Marshals in Los Angeles for failing to register.
Spokesperson, Lynzey Donahue, said in a statement:
"Kenneth Petty self-surrendered to the U.S. Marshals in Los Angeles."
Prosecutors wanted Petty placed on house arrest, but his attorney objected. Instead, Petty will have to wear an ankle monitor and abide by a curfew.
Petty's will also have to pay a $100,000 bond and be under pretrial supervision. He has already surrendered his passport and won't be allowed to travel outside of Southern California.
On top of all that, he won't be allowed to do drugs such as cannabis despite it being legal to use in the state.
The 41-year-old was convicted for first-degree attempted rape 25 years ago in New York and served four years behind bars. After his release, Petty was ordered to register as a sex offender within the state.

Kenneth Petty and Nicki Minaj began dating in late 2018, with the pair having reportedly known each other since childhood.
Their relationship proved controversial due to Petty's criminal past, with Nicki defending her partner against criticism. She said:
"He was 15. She was 16 … in a relationship. But go awf, internet, y'all can't run my life. y'all can't even run y'all own life."
Despite critics, Minaj, 36, and Petty tied the knot in October 2019.
Still, their relationship seems to be strong. Minaj recently sparked pregnancy rumors after sharing a video with Petty rubbing her belly.
