Neuralink's Brain Chip By Elon Musk Approved For Human Trials

Elon Musk just announced that his company Neuralink got the green light from the FDA. This means they can now start testing their amazing technology on real people. It's a big step towards making it available to everyone!

Neuralink is all about creating this brain-computer interface that can be fully implanted. Basically, they want to put a computer in your brain so you can control devices like computers or phones no matter where you are.

They have worked hard for a long time to make sure this technology is safe and ready to be used on real people. It's been a long journey, but they're finally getting closer to making it happen. Exciting times ahead!

As stated on Neuralink's official website, their objective is to develop a brain-computer interface that is completely implantable and visually discreet. This advanced technology aims to empower individuals with the ability to control computers or mobile devices effortlessly, regardless of their location.

"Micron-scale threads would be inserted into areas of the brain that control movement. Each thread contains many electrodes and connects them to an implant called the 'Link'," the website explains.

"The threads on the Link are so fine and flexible that they can't be inserted by the human hand."

"Instead, we are building a robotic system that is designed to reliably and efficiently insert these threads exactly where the neurosurgeon wants them to be."

Musk thinks this kind of technology will be a game-changer for people who are quadriplegic and can't move much.

During an interview with Chris Anderson from TED, Musk said that Neuralink has been involved in treating brain and spinal injuries for almost a decade. They're also looking into tackling health issues like severe obesity.

The tech whiz mentioned that they've been putting a lot of effort into making sure the Neuralink implant can be upgraded, won't break the bank, and is safe to use.

The most crucial aspect of this new technology is its safety when used on human brains. It looks like the big tech company is ready to push forward since they've already received FDA approval.

According to the company's Twitter account, they've received the green light from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

"We are excited to share that we have received the FDA's approval to launch our first-in-human clinical study!" it said.

"This is the result of incredible work by the Neuralink team in close collaboration with the FDA and represents an important first step that will one day allow our technology to help many people."

"Recruitment is not yet open for our clinical trial. We'll announce more information on this soon!"

There will likely be no lack of people eager to be the first to try out this amazing new technology.

Just last year in December, Musk excitedly informed his fans and followers that Neuralink was expecting to obtain approval for human trials by mid-2023.

In a Show and Tell presentation, he demonstrated how one of their test monkeys successfully learned to control a computer cursor solely with its brain.

The implant used during the live stream was incredibly tiny, making it hard to notice, yet it enabled the animal to spell out words and communicate audibly.
