Outrage as teachers publicly shame 6 year old boy for being late to school.

A 6-year-old boy from Grants Pass, Oregon, was late to school. His family had experienced some car issues.

So, taking the bus wasn't an alternative, and mom Nicole did her best to get her son, Hunter, down the street to Lincoln Elementary School. Unfortunately, they arrived a few minutes late.

And Nicole knew right away that her son would likely get a detection. So, she decided to visit her son during lunchtime to see how he was holding up.

But when she arrived at the school, she saw something that made her blood boil.

Nicole didn't find her son in detention. Instead, she saw teachers publicly humiliating him in front of other kids.

The teachers had forced Hunter to sit all alone during lunch break.

They had also placed a board right in front of his face to prevent him from seeing or communicating with other kids.

Also, they placed a cup with the letter 'D' on it in front of him while Hunter sat in tears.

Nicole was outraged with the school's treatment of her son, as any parent would be. To make matters worse, Hunter hadn't been late enough that day to make up any assignments.

Knowing she had to do something, the mom took photos of Hunter right there in the cafeteria.

Hunter's grandma then shared them on social media, where they instantly sparked outrage within the local community.

Taking to Facebook, the grandma wrote:

"This is my grandson, Hunter. He's a little first grader. His momma's car sometimes doesn't like to start right up. Sometimes he's a couple of minutes late to school."

"[This time], he was 1 minute late, and this is what his momma discovered they do to punish him!"

"They have done this to him 6 times for something that is out of this baby's control!"

"They make a mockery of him in front of the other students! The principal is responsible for this."

"His mom found him there, crying, and took him home for the day. Anyone want to help me flood this lady principal with calls telling her how inappropriate this is?"

To ensure that Hunter will never get to school late again, the Grants Pass community gifted the family with a Chrysler van.

Hunter's dad said:

"I'm just blown away to see the community come together like this and see that there are still good people out there."

While the family didn't expect to receive such generosity from the community, they hoped speaking out about their son's situation would force the school to revise their tardiness policy.

They got the school's attention. After the school received complaints from parents, they agreed to revise their actions to isolate tardy students.
